Never knew they could be so costly seeing as how my mom had purchased the previous one. This freezer was not only in my budget but works very well. I like that I can adjust the temp. My old didn't have that feature.

Needed New Freezer

It is however, as other reviewers stated, loud. Seems To be a vibration from the lid that comes and goes. Can be annoying when you can't get it to stop. But still happy with our purchase.
