Cost-effective, but leaves some to be desired

I've been using this light as my EDC light for a few months now. Originally, I carried it in my pocket with my keys, a multitool, a folding knife and a small pocket trauma kit. There were a few things I discovered about it quite quickly that I both did and didn't like. The good: -Battery life at lower settings is pretty awesome. The light stays cold to the touch in lower power modes, and runs just endlessly. The lithium battery being USB rechargable is a good touch, as I hate carrying spares and almost always have access to a USB power supply. -At brighter settings, the light is absurdly bright for its size and electrical power. -The aluminum housing is actually fairly rugged, mine has been dropped several times on concrete and asphalt and shows minimal wear other than the micron-thin coating coming right off and making it look like something out of a Mad Max film. The bad: -Pocket clip is useless. If you're not sitting at a desk with the thing in a shirt pocket all day, expect for it to be lost inside of a month, as it barely retains the light at all. -Belt pouch is useless. Mid-strap doesn't come up high enough to keep the light from wandering from side to side and falling out. Don't rely on it for day-to-day usage, let alone anything high impact. -Positioning of the buttons on the head of the lamp instead of the tail was a terrible design choice. After I lost the belt clip, there was no good way to keep it from turning on in my pocket. The good news is that it just needs to be recharged at that point. The bad news is that it just needs to be recharged at that point. Trying to use the belt pouch to prevent this, resulted in it repeatedly falling out. -I'm not a fan of the delayed response pressure switch. It makes it slow to switch on and does very little to prevent the light from being activated in my pocket. So far the thing still works as originally sold, other than all the accessories being ready for the garbage bin right away. I'm not disappointed enough with it to replace it, because it was very cheap and has so far held up quite well. If you could afford better, you should buy better though.

    Great Flashlight

I frequently require a flashlight to use while I’m at work, and this is pefect! It has 4 brightness levels, the highest is super bright especially at night. I work in a warehouse and I do deliveries, and at night it’s hard to see the numbers on most houses. With this flashlight I can find the addresses for my delivery, even if it’s pitch black. In the warehouse, I can use a lower setting to see what I’m doing while inside a semi trailer or a dark part of the warehouse. This also has a rechargeable battery which is what I want. I had a mag light which wasn’t nearly as bright as this, and I’d constantly have to buy batteries. The battery in this is a hardwired 18650 battery which is most commonly used in Vape Mods. I have another flashlight that has the option of using an 18650 battery instead of the standard 3AAA batteries, and I use the 18650 instead because it’s brighter when you use an 18650. However this Insignia light is even brighter than that flashlight is with the same type of battery! Also with flashlights that have removable 18650 batteries, you have to own a battery charger, again most commonly used for vape mods, in order to charge your 18650 battery. I happen to have a vape mod and a battery charger so I can do this however most can’t. The Insignia flashlight, since it’s battery is hardwired in, is able to just be plugged into usb to charge. You don’t need to supply your own 18650 and a battery charger to use it, and it’s brighter as well. The only downside I’ll give this light is that the beam is not zoomable, so you can’t zoom the beam in or out on your target. I will day though that the beam on this is wide and bright enough to work for everything I need, which is nice because usually the further out you zoom a beam, the less bright your light is. I would recommend this light to anyone, but especially for people that use flashlights in their work such as contractors, security guards, delivery drivers, etc. Also the light has a clip built into it as well as a wrist strap, but is also comes with a belt case you can use to carry it on your belt. It’s also a very compact size compared to most 18650 battery flashlights, which is another plus.

This flashlight is surprisingly, blindingly bright! The four switchable levels of light intensity plus the strobe mode (defaults to the brightest level) add to the flexibility of using the flashlight and conserving battery when desired/appropriate. Having a rechargeable Li-ion battery (USB charge) and outstanding lumens level in a small, light package is excellent. When it is on sale as a Deal of the Day or other sale price, it really becomes a very good value as well, comparing it to the typical $100+ price for comparable flashlights. The shortcoming is not having an interchangeable battery, resulting in the flashlight requiring the several hour charge cycle when it runs out of battery power. The 1.5 second delay for the On/Off switch function has not been problematic in my use of the light, nor has the position of the single On/Off switch on the barrel of the light, near the head (rather than having a second switch on the tail-cap). It is too soon to comment on long-term durability; fingers crossed.

I've been looking for a brighter, rechargeable, pocket size flashlight. I've read reviews, and searched and decided on this one, as it seem to fit all of what I was looking for. It is bright and lights up the area well. I use it also to candlelight eggs, which requires a bright penetrating light to get through some egg shells. It took almost 5 hours to charge completely. I haven't had it long enough to tell how long the battery is going to last, however. I will update if it is a negative experience. It does get hot when left on for several minutes, but cools fairly quickly. I do not like the delay on the on/off switch. For me, it is frustrating. Other than that, it works well. It's nice to have different options for brightness, though mine stays on the brightest setting. For the money, and compared to other more expensive options, this is pretty good so far.

At first I was thrilled to have a rechargeable high output flashlight but soon I had seen what others had seen. First the light is very bright but soon the lights power runs low and the light is not much brighter than a 300 Lumen flashlight. Second the opening for the USB plug is recessed and too small for the end of the plug on the cord provided so it makes it difficult to get the USB plug to seat in easily thus you can damage the USB receptacle. I even think that the USB plug and receptacle are not quite the same size making it easy to break the USB receptacle. I went back to my coast flashlight that uses batteries, at least the light remains brighter for a longer period of time before needing to replace the batteries.

I love this flashlight! I purchased a Fenix 1000 lumen for over $100.00 and it only worked for a year. The insignia has all of the features the Fenix does for half the price. You do not have to remove the battery to charge or buy a charging station. The insignia buttons light up red when charging and then green to let you know its charged. It does not come with a carrying case but it does have a clip on its side. The power button has to be held for 2 seconds or more to power on. I didnt read instructions so it was probably ready to go out of the box. I always take my flashlights on 4x4 riding trips and the insignia has survived mud, cold temperatures and stayed running on high beam for several hours. Very impressed so far!! Its worth a try.

I use it as an occasional light at my desk at home. I stash it in a drawer and pull it out to check the settings on a motherboard inside a computer, or look for something I knew I stashed in one of the cabinets, or to find a cat who's decided to hide somewhere new. It replaces a flashlight that died because one of its alkali batteries leaked. It sits idle for long stretches between uses, but so far has held its charge well. The light level can be adjusted to fit the need. And, it is nice that it remembers the last used level when you turn it on. Not as thrilled about the built in delay with the on switch. It always gives me momentary pause, wondering if I should have charged it after the last use.

It’s the right size for me. I wear size M in mens gloves. It feels comfortable in my hand. Lightweight. I can feel the right buttons to push in the dark. With others, I have had to spin it around and around trying to figure out where the “on” is. Then again for the brightness to only turn it back of accidentally. I have it sitting on its end right now on my nightstand as my lamp is too bright at night, I like the delayed “on”. I hate accidentally turning one on when my arms are full. I may buy another. Only wish is for the indicator lights to be brighter, it’s not easy to see them when it’s daylight, This may cause difficulty for those with color blindness.

I’ve had this flashlight for a month already and love it, it’s bright and battery lasts long ! The only problem I have with it is the on/off button next to the intensity/flash button I can’t get used to it since I was used to it been on the back not on the side! I just used it today like for an hour and a half full power and yesterday like for an hour full power plus a few minutes this morning all in one charge and if you look at the pictures the light is still strong,Overall a good purchase

This light is smaller than my Streamlight ProTac 800 Lumen and is almost as bright. It also cost less than a quarter of the price. I like that it is rechargeable (as opposed to standard battery type). The only complaint I have is having to hold the button for a couple seconds for it to turn on. The mode button for changing brightness and strobe works great though. WARRANTY is one year for this one versus Lifetime for the Streamlight. You get what you pay for, and this was well worth the money.

I wish I hadn't bought this. I charged this like 2 weeks ago, and I never used it, only tried it after charging. It worked it wasn't incredibly bright or anything, not I thought for an led bulb. So when I got this email to write this review I figured I better check it. It was completely dead, not a flicker of light. I wouldn't tell anybody to buy this especially a friend. I would take it back but I threw the box out. jUST GOT RIPPED OFF AGAIN

This is actually one of my favorite lights and I have about 20 lol. As an EDC light that i use on patrol its great and battery last. Only down side is there is a full one second delay when you want to turn it on. So take that into consideration if you need an immediate tactical light. It is brighter than my small streamlight 88083 Protac-2lx but not by much but it is brighter. One year warranty from bestbuy, easy return at store and handed me a new one.

Useable, works ok with few exceptions. Have to hold power button for few seconds to put it ON or OFF, who came up with this genius invention ? Flashlight catches on holster every time you try to take it out. You have to manipulate with both hands to get it out. Aggravating when used at work. Sharp edges of flashlight caching on unfinished holster. Really bad design and/or cheap manufacturing. It shows how few minor things can ruin a decent product

Can't think of a better start I keep this in my backpack... and have used some, but when I took it out, I turned it on and went through the four brightnesses.. pointed at a mirror, and now I need my retina to come back to normal - that bright! This is great because the low setting would handle most lighting needs around the house, but in the woods/outside it would be good to have the other brightnesses In fact I have a brack for my bike to use as a backup light

I got this light months ago and I use it for work, i work at a car repair shop. By far this is the best light ever way better then the snap on light that are $100 and over. This light is very durable and last long. I’ve have bought a few of them for my guys at work and they find it’s bright and love that it’s rechargeable, the battery would lasts for weeks. Great item to buy. 800lumz you can’t get that on a snap on light

I use this flashlight daily in my job and it works great. The charge last a long time and it recharges fast. The buttons have to be held in for a few seconds to turn on, and change brightness. This is a good thing so you don't turn it on by mistake in your pocket. It has three brightness levels and is very bright on high. It is a good investment to always have a fully charged flashlight with you and not have to buy batteries.

I’m a fan of flashlights and i have more than 20, but still can’t stop buying them. Got this one about a month ago and have charged it only once. It’s so bright and strong, even though it’s LED , you van feel the heat from it . The only concern is that the battery is not replaceable, but I guess it can live at least 5 years, which is enough for a flashlight. And the price was a real deal, I paid only $22 . Will definitely recommend it .

Initially, I was skeptical, knowing how bad most of Best Buy's "Insignia" branded products are (truthfully, when I placed the order, I wasn't even aware it was an Insignia-branded product). The light is bright, the rechargeable battery is a huge "plus", and the included storage case is a very nice addition (which many others don't include. Got four of these, as a "Deal of the Day" item, and couldn't be happier.

Overall it’s bright as heck, durable, rechargeable, light weight, and a decent price. Not bad for every day use, the only things I am not a fan of is: 1. It takes 1.5 seconds to turn on. So I wouldn’t use this flashlight in a tactical sense. 2. No tailcap momentary switch? That’s pretty much a standardized thing now. Why not include it. 3. Not waterproofed at all so be careful.

Well this is a fantastic all-around flashlight. It is extremely bright, far brighter than I was ever expecting. The strobe effect is very nice as well. The battery life is also surprisingly long lasting despite using it plenty of times a day,I’ve used this during night patrols/ ride alongs, night parades, directing traffic, and for searching for people, I definitely reccomend this flashlight.
