I bought this for my grandson who got his first 3ds XL for Christmas from us. It didn't come with a charger. So we took a chance on this one. Seems to work well, but we had to make sure that his unit was on the charger right until he got use to it. Bought a second one for another family member and everyone really likes the charger.

You cant have a case on your 3DS XL. Who would run their 3DS XL w/o protective cover? How can accessory makers not consider this? It became a lot less useful when I realized my son has to take off his cover in order to use this device. At that point, it is probably as good as a boat anchor. One star off on an otherwise decent device.

I am sure this as effective as any other charger, but the docking aspect of it makes it more sleek on the shelves. Instead of having just your 3DS laying around while charging, now it is standing vertical nice and neat.

As stated in the title, this charge station was not designed for the upgraded New 3DS XL, but it is otherwise a great gadget and it looks terrific. Makes it look almost futuristic, and when you need a charge you just drop in. Great idea, just wish Best Buy had updated this product.

This is just another charging cradle...very convenient, decent price.

I love being able to simply put my 'new' 3ds xl in this charger and have it charge. Easy on (some of the time), easy out. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the console to seat properly due to the layout of the recesses which use the shoulder buttons as guides, but it's not a really big deal. Overall, recommend.

The good thing about this charger is that you do not need a New 3ds XL to use it per se - the "dock" separates from the plug which is the correct size for plugging directly into the console. This is the same plug for all 3ds units and even the DSi. Additionally, this plug works like most power bricks do these days - meaning that it works with different electric input levels. This means this plug will work in other parts of the world (with an appropriate adapter), unlike the official Nintendo one. I've seen some people concerned that this charger has a slight difference in voltages from the official unit, but after considerable research I haven't found any evidence of this being an issue online. I have personally used this charger as well without issue.

The charge dock is excellent for freeing up your regular charger and providing a nice clean area to charge it and to provide some resistance to an accidental knock over. The only issue I have is the short cable that comes with it, I had a spare charger and was able to make the cable longer to plug in and charge, otherwise this is an excellent product!

This has the expected advantages of a dock, instead of a loose cord, and obvious disadvantages, such as not working with a case on the 3DS XL (for those who use a case), but there are two unexpected advantages in my opinion: 1. The photo of the power adapter itself doesn't make it obvious, but the one received is slightly different from the pictures shown, and completely power strip "friendly", blocking only one position. 2. As others have stated, the power adapter and cord can be used without the dock, to charge the 3DS XL by just plugging it in like a normal adapter. No need to worry that it might be micro-USB or mini-USB instead. So, for the same price as the Nintendo adapter, you get full flexibility for use in any situation, including as a travel adapter without the dock if desired. Great product at a great price!

very easy to use and charges quickly cradle holds very well

The charging cradle saves a lot of space and allows me to easily switch out consoles. 2 small issues - 1) make sure the console is fully docked so that the charging light on your console lights up. 2) the cradle is a little narrow, which causes some sticking when you slide it in - thus resulting in issue one.

The charging station takes a bit of getting used to since there are no physical guides on the sides of it to help you place the system (there are indentations for the shoulder buttons that will help though). That said it holds the system snugly, without any scratching, and it charges the system just like the Nintendo branded charging cable (the power cord can even be directly plugged into your New 3DS if needed). The only bad thing about this charge station set is the length of the included power cord, it is significantly shorter than the Nintendo branded charging cable. Other than the short cord this is an excellent purchase for any New 3DS system and a very nice item given that the power cable in this set is able to be used both in the charging station and on the New 3DS itself.

This dock offers a convenient way to charge your New 3DS XL. This dock does include a charger which is a plus as the New 3DS XL does not include one (They assume you have one). It will work with the Nintendo brand charger or a 3DS USB cable just the same.

The charging dock works great for what I need. It is exactly what I was looking for. It is thin and sturdy enough and so much easier than the old charger.

Just like the title of this review; this charger is very easy to set up and use. Simply connect the charger, place the 3DSXL (it works with regular 3DS also) in it and that's it. No clicking or snapping into place. That's it. Great for a night stand. I highly recommend it.

Well designed stand, both aesthetically and overall durability. However this stand only works for the NEW nintendo 3ds XL. So if you have the original 3ds XL, it will not work. (The charging pins are centered on the stand whereas the original 3ds XL has offset charging pins)

I got this charger for my daughters new 3ds system. I have to admit that the design of vertical charging is not as good as the original charger for 3ds systems which were just layed flat on charger. It still works good and keeps system in one location yet takes a bit to set correctly on charger.

What can I say, the product works as expected. As others have stated, the cable is a bit short and can be used without the cradle/dock. Actually, I use this item just for the cable only since I have a case on my console and it doesn't fit on the dock.
