I was shopping for a light bright enough that wasn't as expensive as those photography led lights & we found these worked just perfectly. Pair it up with 2 sets of 6 AA rechargeable batteries & these are just as good to start up with. Only down side is that these are not dimmable, do not have a flashing feature & do require 6 AA @ one time. Plus side is you don't need a filter to soften the intensity of the led's because the white case surrounding the led's do just that. Yet it's still bright enough to work as photography lighting to illuminate the subject (up to 10 feet away from us) I've attached a picture showing the light in a pitch black bedroom @ night.

I have a number of flashlights that are small but very bright, so this was a bit of an odd purchase. It's rather large for my tastes, but I like it because the light is very even. It's not something you would use on a daily basis, but when you need it for a power outage or as a room light, it fits the need just fine. Controls are simple, but I wish there was an option for turning it on in some other mode than maximum brightness. The handle may seem reversed at first glance, but it is correct for holding the light like a lantern, with the light facing away from your eyes. The running times with 3 or 6 batteries is similar (5 and 6 hours respectively), but the maximum brightness is lower with three batteries. Unless you need the highest brightness, I'd recommend using 3 batteries at a time. That will give you 5 hours on the first trio of batteries, and another 5 hours with the second set. To me, this is better than using all 6 batteries for 6 hours of slightly brighter use. The light is dimmable, so you can also conserve by turning it down. Use regular batteries if keeping for emergencies, rechargeables for frequent use.

I ain't gonna lie, I just happened across this item on the clearance rack during my last visit and at $15 I planned to take it home and hack it for something yet undetermined. After putting the batteries in and figuring out what it was capable of, I had a change of intention. This thing is a significant source of many differing types of illumination. For example, the white light acts as a great indirect flashlight with the handle as a way to hang it over whatever you're trying to see. I've used it with a magnifying glass to solder some smaller items and it has the advantage of not causing the shadows that a flashlight often does. I also hung it on a hanger in my closet while cleaning it out and left it on the highest brightness for at least 3 hours without it dimming enough for me to notice. Another use for this item has been in the evenings, with the ol lady. It provides a few choices of colored light at varied intensities to match and/or enhance any activities we might be disturbing the neighbors with that night. All in all, a very good purchase that I would make again.

I picked up of these to try them out for some night time photography. I was looking for something to use that was LED and multicolored. Sturdy construction and good battery life for me so far. Only 300 lumens though, but still pretty bright in the dead of night.

I was dumb enough to have the light shining right at my face when I first turned this light on because I wasn't expecting it to be as bright as it is! Let's just say, I was seeing spots when I closed my eyes for quite a while. :-) This lantern is super bright! The dimming feature is really nice as well as having the handle that acts as a great way to carry it around as well as a way to set it on a solid surface and angle it to where you want the light shining. Definitely worth the price, especially now that it is on clearance :-) I have 8 of them around my house!!

I just received this lantern/light but I'm already impressed with it. The light is bright and not too hard on the eyes. I love the ease of dimming or brightening. Lights up a VERY large room. The other colors work great as well but I love the original white light the best. Definitely ordering more of these for hurricane season and for camping.

Even on a low setting this portable lamp still brightens any dark area. I use this to take my dog out late at night and it's really the perfect tool. I even left it on accidentally one night for 8+ hours and the battery is still kicking. Great product, would recommend 10/10

Bought this right before Hurricane Irma rolled through GA in case power went out. Yep, went out for five days (DeKalb County) and used the HECK out of this lamp. Kids love the colors, and I loved the ability to run off three instead of six batteries.

The colors are very pleasant and the battery life is amazing. I recommend this product to anyone. It's beautiful and very affordable.

This light works better than I thought it would. Uses either 3 or 6 battery option which is nice if you need long term lighting vs brightness. Both settings are bright enough to light up good size area. good light for the price

I use these as lamps in my room and my son's because our apartment doesn't have overhead lights. It's really bright and lights up our room. It can get really dim too. Love the different colors as well. I like how it's portable too, can carry it around the dark house to grab something really quick.

Found this thing on the clearance shelf for a little over 10 bucks and really wasn't sure what it did but the hacker in me compelled this acquisition. Put batteries in it on the way home and couldn't get over how nice this thing is. Great amount of helpful white light and the batteries last for 5 hours before showing signs of dimming and it has 4 other colors that are not unpleasing and lend an air of atmosphere to certain situations. I actually used it for a month before tearing into it to see what made it tick and was quite impressed with the quality of materials and workmanship. I even put it back together and still use it a lot. Great for working on a PC. Hope I find another one because I will purchase it at up to $20.

I love the dimming feature and multiple colors. I work from home and this little light serves many purposes... when it's red my kids know not to bug me. When I am working late into the night and don't want to disturb the family with the overhead light this little guys gives me just the right amount of light. Great outdoors at night for party ambiance too!

Works great for a small camping lite or tailgates at night. It can also change to multiple colors for fun or to provide less intense lighting.

Used this light to indicate which house on my block was the one with the party, and worked just fine for the task. It's a little large for something like backpacking, but for car-camping or similar it'd be fine to bring along. Nice and bright and the color-changing aspect of it is pretty nifty. The utility of the lamp is really up to the mind of the buyer. Seems well made and reasonably water-resistant.

This light lasted all night during the hurricane. It was bright enough to light an entire room. This was a safer option especially with a busy toddler during a power outage! I love the colors.

I found this in the clearance bin and I know I didn't need it but it was pretty neat. Turns out it's a cool nightlight for when my grandson sleeps over, we use it outside at night when we need a little more light, and it's handy for camping.

Different level of brightness is helpful depending on situation. Battery life is long.
