Summary: I bought this model TV because of it's size, promised features, the new LED tech backlight, and the low price comparatively. After about 3 weeks of casual usage, I returned it and exchanged it for a SHARP AQUOS model LC46LE840U, because the TV was continuously rebooting itself when I used my component video cable for my Wii, because the menus are sluggish, the backlight bleed was awfully noticeable unless you turned the brightness way down, the 120 Hz operation didn't buy me anything (the "smooth motion" software didn't seem to improve on anything as far as I could tell), composite video had awful response time (upscaling lag?), and the TV frequently could not connect to the internet or had miscellaneous connectivity issues. Picture Quality: Seemed OK, I was initially disappointed with how awful the black levels looked in a dark ambient lighting condition. The dynamic backlight didn't take care of this for me, I had to manually adjust the brightness setting on all my inputs to below 33 to achieve anything close to "black". It became clear immediately that the TV is edge lit, because with the default brightness settings on all the video modes, the edges (right and left) were extremely bright compared to the center of the display. That aside and fixed by careful tweaking of the limited display options available, I was actually rather pleased with the crispness of the digital 1080p image, the colors looked OK, and the brightness was acceptable. Sound Quality: What you would expect from a flat panel TV with speakers in it. Features: Awful. I don't like the menu scheme (TIVO or whatever it is). The menus looked low-res and clunky, ugly, rough, etc, and performed sluggishly. The internet connectivity was very buggy. The TV occasionally rebooted itself when using Netflix. Wireless and/or wired connectivity was difficult to initialize after boot-up. Composite/component video input had drastic lag / response time for gaming applications, even when using the recommended "GAME MODE" settings. I confirmed that other users were having these issues on Best Buy's forums and Insignia's forums. Conclusion: If you're looking for a budget "Smart TV", look no further. But in this case, you really get what you pay for. I recommend using external devices for your internet connectivity (X-box, PS3, BluRay players, PC's, etc) but don't count on the component/composite input to work well for your applications. Then instead, buy the version of this TV that is not "Smart" for a lot less money. Check out the SHARP 46" LED TV, model LC46LE840U if you're OK with spending 40% more to get what you actually want.

Bought this on Black Friday. First off, it's a fantastic picture. Going from 720P and 60hz to 1080P and 120hz is a major improvement. However, since it's more like a computer than a TV, it has major issues. Often will not turn off, must unplug and "reboot". Or, it will not turn on, ditto unplug. Often the sound does not pass through the HDMI to the Optical port. Again, turn off, reboot. Also, the remote blows. It's backlit, but all the buttons are black and you CANNOT see them unless they are lit up. Basically worthless. Netlix works great and the picture is very good, much better than through our Wii. I"m going to return and hopefully get a better unit. If it still has the above mentioned problems, I will get something else. Yes, it takes about 1-2 minutes to "turn on", again because of the computer part of the TV.

Love the picture. but nothing else. The tuner is weak. I have a laptop next to the TV, record on it with a capture card connected to the same antenna line as the TV, the capture card brings in channels that the TV says has no signal. The wireless capabilities are weak as well, lots of times says no internet signal, try again, and then it works, wireless router is 20 feet away (this is not right after turn on either). Internet options are Netflix, YouTube and Insignia feeds only. All in all, would not buy another Insignia.

I am a Netflix fan, bought this mainly because of the built in wifi adapter, connected to internet with no problems, but netflix at times would cause the screen to turn totally black, then the tv would turn back on. Had 2 phone consultations with Insignia, no help, a Geek squad technician came to my home and said he could replace the main board, then ordered one, talked to 2 other Geek squad technicians who said it was a problem with the internet provider. Finally I asked to just return the tv which I exchanged for a Sony Google TV with LED LCD, so far it works well and connects to Netflix very quickly, screen quality is even a little better.

We brought this tv home last night for my daughter's birthday present. She was shocked and loved it...until we plugged it in and it gave us a 920 error and said to call tech support. They said the apps wouldn't function without TiVo and there was an issue with the Tivo software licensing. A lot of customers were having issues with this. (and frankly you should fix this asap!) I was pretty disappointed as was my daughter. It totally lost it's wow factor! I haven't decided if I should wait to see if they can fix it or give up and buy another brand. We spent a lot of time, money and energy to not be "wowed" .
