Awesome TV at a Great Price...

I picked this awesome tv on Best Buy's cyber monday sale when this tv was $150.00 off of the retail price of $699.99, could not pass up that deal. Just a great price for a 42" smart led lcd connected tv. This is our 2nd Insignia led lcd tv. The other is a 22" 1080p hd led lcd tv which is also just a great tv. But back to this 42" Insignia tv. Out of the box and set up was pretty simple. The only thing that took a little bit of time was attaching the base/stand to the back of the tv. Otherwise the actual set up of the tv on screen was a piece of cake, just followed the on screen prompts. Connected to my wireless secured network with no problem. One thing that you do want to do is search online, i think that cnet has it, for the calibration specifications for total picture optimation. I did this and the picture is just awesome. You also should upgrade your hdmi cable to a high speed with ethernet with at least 10.2 or higher gbps transfer speed. This will handle the 120hz refresh rate and really help the internet connectivity for streaming etc. I have directv and I was able to program the Insignia remote so that it completely works the directv HD-DVR and all of its functions, being able to use just one remote. The tivo interface/menu system works well, takes a bit to get use to if you have never used it before, such as myself, but it is easy to work with. In regards to the sound/speakers, i am just using the tv speakers for the setup that I have and the sound is very good, but if it was being used as a main tv in the living room I would get a sound bar and hook that up and turn off the tv speakers whenever possible. All in all I am extremely pleased with my purchase of this 42" Insignia connected smart tv. The service that I received from my local Best Buy store was top notch as usual. I would absolutely recommend this tv to anyone, even if they had to pay full retail. Even at that price, it is still a great deal. Don't hesitate at all to buy Best Buy's house brand #Insignia#, it is built just as good as the major brands and has the standard 2 year warranty as piece of mind. But I would recommend getting Best Buy's 4 year black tie service plan. It is not that expensive and it will cover the tv if it breaks due to a surge or lighting strike etc. The standard Insignia warranty does not cover that, so it is worth getting Best Buy's black tie service plan, which by the way is an in-home service plan, which is a nice perk.

I did a lot of homework before I bought an LED TV because I'm 22 and money is well... tight. After owning this TV for a year I felt compelled to post a positive review, because the TV has outperformed the price. This TV was around $800 when I bought it and I dont regret a single dollar of that. It's just and excellent TV with a price that is next to impossible to beat. I shopped pretty much every store in my area including those with memberships, and best buy still beats their prices (even on the bigger brand names). I was a little skeptical about the Insignia house brand, but I've been nothing but impressed since I bought it. I play a ps3 on it and its been pretty awesome. Blue ray looks awesome My only advice is to toy around with the settings as you will need to calibrate it to maximize its potential. DO NOT PAY TO CALIBRATE IT. Look up the settings online with the Model #. I'm planning to buy a second one since the price has gone down; so my friends and I can play side by side online. Not to mention watching sports on one, gaming on the other. Or just browsing the web on one, and doing whatever on the other. My only issue was that best buy didn't give me reward points for the purchase of over $1,300 (w/ a ps3 and several games) even when I presented my membership at purchase. When I realized this, it was "too late" ( according to customer service) to recover the some $120 worth of reward points. Still the TV is more than I could ask for.

I first saw this TV featured in a review online, and the review was very favorable. I had been looking at a Vizio 42 in that is just LCD but offers 3D for about 50 bucks less. I opted to spend the extra in an effort to gain the LED backlighting that this set features; cause who needs 3D in the bedroom anyhow. I also liked how slim the set is, esp compared to other set in this price range. Set up was straight forward easy to follow on screen. Adjusting to picture setting was a bit more time consuming but after adjusting some settings on the PS3, it was pretty quick. Picture quality is bright, vivid and crisp, a huge improvement overthe 720p LCD that I had in the bedroom previously. Blu-ray quality is amazing, and the faster refresh rate (120hz) works very well; our TV invthe living room has a 480hz refresh rate, but the quality on this set is good. Can't say about the sound, as I have it plugged into a Sony sound bar system, but TV speakers always sound bad to me. I do like the the TV raises the volume on the audio system automatically via the HDMI. So I gave up the 3D option, but I think I would have rarely used it at this poit, and our 55 in living room TV has 3D so not really giving it up. Both Vizio and Insignia's panels are made by LG, who made my previous TV so it is a good quality panel. for the price, you can't go wrong here.

This is my first flat screen TV. I had been researching flat screen TVs for the last 6 months or so, and ended up going with this Insignia based on reviews, how the picture clarity looked in the store and the price. I have two Toshiba laptops which I've had great experience with, but decided not to get a Toshiba TV based on reviews I read. Have only had the Insignia TV for about a week, but so far I haven't been disappointed. Assembling the stand was very easy, and it's nice that the TV swivels a bit on the stand. Getting the TV itself set up was also extremely easy. Connecting the TV to my Netgear router was also easy. The picture is nice and clear. I have experimented with the various picture settings and it seems to me that there are so many possible variations that there must be something for any taste. Based on reviews, I thought I might end up needing a soundbar. I have this TV in my living room, which is fairly small, and don't plan to use the TV for listening to music. I typically have the volume set to somewhere between 8 and 12 (highest is level is 80, if I'm not mistaken), and the sound is just fine for watching TV. I haven't yet tried connecting my laptop directly to the TV, but if I decide I want to do that, it looks as though that will be quite easy, too. The only thing that I found misleading is that the USB port cannot be used for anything other than service.

I'm a heavy netflix user so i definitely wanted a connected tv with netflix support. I gotta say, Insignia is by far the best connected tv i've tried so far. When I went to best buy i tried every single model, including Sony/Google, LG and Samsung. Honestly, I can't stand the menus and app store on all of them... with the one exception that LG's wii remote was cool. It was totally unexpected, but Insignia blew me away. The Tivo menus have the same sounds and design that i loved from my Tiro years ago.... And I just tried the fling feature of Insignia on demand. Wow... I think I like that more than even Netflix. I am a connected tv junkie, and i'm very pleased with the insignia.

I originally purchased a 40'' Dynex TV, thinking that it was only going to be a bedroom TV so why spend more. Just a suggestion...don't listen to the Best Buy employees when they say Dynex is comparable to other brands. I took it back and decided that maybe a smart TV would be a good choice even though it was double the price.. So far, I've really enjoyed using the internet connection for Netflix...just as good as watching on the 50'' living room TV using the Xbox. In general, the picture is so clear that sometimes I feel like it's TOO real..I tend to dumb it down by switching the picture setting. Haven't had any issues with the sound. The only things I really don't care for are that it takes a minute or so to warm up (which I know is because it's LED), and I wish the remote had a light option...buttons are difficult to use in the dark bedroom. I would have liked to rate it between "good" and "excellent" if given the choice above, but overall I would choose to buy this again.

I read all of the reviews, both positve and negative, about this TV, and purchased one when it went on sale. I did have problems connecting to the internet but by calling Insignia's Technical Support Line (instead of searching for solutions online), the problem was quickly resolved, which had nothing to do with the TV. Other reviews had problems with the sound, but setting the volume at a low level of "2", I can hear the TV perfectly fine in all rooms in 1100 square feet. So, the TV does not come-up instantly when turned on . . . well, it's a High-Tech Electronic Device, and boots up equivalent to computers! For the price, you can't beat the 1080p, 120Hz, Wireless Internet, LED, Picture Quality, etc. I enjoyed my Insignia TV so much, that I purchased another one (exact size and model), in which the setup was very easy and problem-free.

Everything went ok when setting it up, then the second day i was about to change the source, as to play my ps3, and accidently pushed the wrong button, then all heck broke loose, i couldnt get the remote to work, so i tried the tv menu, not working either. I called the geek squad, followed their instructions, for 2 hours NO GOOD, tv was just hours old, Bestbuy sales rep said they would do in home help with the big screen, good luck with that !!!! They wanted to schedule sending someone out in 2 weeks, So i figured out i could do a factory default on tv and remote. BINGO, fixed the problem, DO NOT COUNT ON BESTBUYS HELP!!!!!

This is our third Insignia brand TV. Do not be afraid of the house brand. The two year warranty is a plus. Great picture, better sound than we expected, set up and running in about 5 minutes! (We are U-Verse customers.) A full keyboard would be nice, but not necessary to enjoy it right out of the box. Looked at adding the Logitech Harmony Link, but haven't made a final decision. It would allow us to use our ipad, iphone, or ipod for a keyboard. We may add a sound bar or speaker system at a later date, but for now the sound is more than adequate. Great service at our Best Buy store!

Great TV at a great price. Love the Flingo apps and the ability to fling web videos directly to the TV. I did a lot of research before (waiting) to buy this unit and it certainly paid off. All the other Smart TVs are more expensive and this has the most current technology and connectivity options. A great buy!

The insignia connected TV is great. Good picture sound and the connected apps are designed well. The TiVo interface is good. The only thing that could be improved would be the sound quality and the addition of Hulu Plus and Blockbuster.
