    Analog TV/VCR Combo Reborn

I have many VCR tapes and an analog TV/ VCR combination. This converter brought it back to life. It also has a great signal meter and has a great ability to lock on signals. As you can see from the picture it doesn't take up much room is light weight and mounts easily to the TV with velcro.

We didn't want to get yet another cable box, so we purchased this with the Antenna and get great reception and lots of channels. perfect for our guest room and was easy to install. the only draw back is that you need two remotes. I can't figure out how to configure this into the the universal remote we bought and it confuses my mom.

Coupled with a digital antenna, this unit allows air reception of many of your standard TV stations. Please check your local listing to determine what you can actually receive. In our case, we get all 4 major networks, several of their affiliates plus our local public broadcasting affiliate. All in digital HD quality. OK, so it's not satellite or premium cable, it won't get you hundreds of channels, but the reception is HD, you have a reasonable selection of stations and . . . ITS FREE. Installation is basically plug and play. Plug it in, follow the on screen instructions and watch your TV. This is a great option if you're on a budget or, for that matter, any time or any place you need to convert an RF signal to DTV.

Full function converter box with handy remote

Insignia box has all standard functions for converting digital TV signals to analog output for older model televisions. Signal is strong, picture is very good, overall picture is stable, not always the case on cheaper units. The real selling point is the remote control, which has a dedicated button for all menu items and makes re-scanning much easier. I have been using my Insignia box with a Leaf HDTV antenna and Samsung 20-inch Color TV (CRT tube) with fine results and a good selection of free channels. A little pricier than the days of free government vouchers, but still a good value for keeping an older working TV out of a landfill, When shopping for electronics, I have met quite a few people looking for such a converter box, nice to know a major retail chain keeps them in stock.

I recently replaced my TV viewing with the Insigna Digital Converter Box.More like DTV ,it 'grabs' free TV stations ,just as TV used to be. Great Picture, needs an antenna for reception.but worth it. Affected by weather and obstacles, love the 'no monthly charges'

My original unit that I purchased over ten years ago with my government issued coupon finally gave out, so I went to Best Buy and got the only model they had in the store. It is exactly what I needed and it is better than the one I had before. I am able to pick up 49 channels for free with this new unit! My other unit was only able to pull in about 30 channels and the signal strength did not hold up very well on some channels. With this new unit the signal strength is much more consistent. I am very happy with this purchase.

I had Apex brand converter box. Liked it very much. It lasted for a good 3 or 4 years before it went kaput. I bought RCA's 3 different times. They would just barely last a year before breaking. RCA was the only brand I could find in-store until I found Insignia. Works very well in my house that has a metal roof. Better than the RCA did. The third RCA the remote went out after 5 months. All I could do was turn off/on, change channel and it kept losing channels. So far I am happy with the Insignia box. It has as many features as the Apex. If it last longer than a year, that will be fantastic, and then it will get 5 stars.

I'm a cord cutter. I don't subscribe to the Cable Companies bad programming and being charged for it. So... I had previously bought a NAXA converter which worked fine for 2 months then crapped out. All I get now is the "settings" screen and nothing else. So I bought Insignia converter and it was like having an upgrade to my TV. It gives me everything I would want from the cable companies and more. In Phoenix I receive 62 channels over the air (FOR FREE) from this converter and in bright digital format. It's great !!!

This was a good buy for the TV in my guest bedroom. Easy setup and the picture on my TV is beautiful! Sometimes the channels I want to watch won't come in and it's an easy fix, I just do another scan and the channels pop in.

Great analog converter for OTA digital antennas

We ditched our cable company, and installed an over the air digital antenna. We still have a few old analog TV's so we bought three of these analog converters. We get over 60 channels and the pictures on both the digital TVs and the analog TVs using this converter are better than the pictures we got from the cable company. We found we could still record using the old VCR recorders on the analog TVs by setting the converter to the channel we want to record, and leaving the converter turned on. We also discovered on the combo TVs that have a built-in VCR that you have to have the head pones unplugged or you won't get sound. All easy work around's considering no more HIGH CATV bills with hundreds of channel we din't watch anyway.
