    It gets lots of channels with the antenna, but it has very annoying, intermittent, and loud static at times. Adjusting the antenna doesn't help at all, except to lose the station. I would only recommend this to a friend because it's hard to even find these to buy anymore.

    I have an old huge large screen tv. With an antenna and this converter my tv gets a wonderful picture and all the local tv stations. I don't need to pay for cable tv anymore. Super!!

    I cut the cable cord, which took about one month. I asked several people, including a Best Buy salesman and the Vizio customer support person, if I needed a converter box. They told me I didn't, which shows their ignorance. If your television was manufactured before June, 2009, you will need a converter box to go to antenna. The box doesn't look like much, but it works. I have most of a 22-unit apartment building between my antenna and the preferred northeast signal location, but by using a compass, I keep the antenna aimed slightly north of east through a glass door. The converter box is also warm - I have it on a ceramic plate.
