When the government and the FCC made the decision to move the over-the-air television signals, the move made many old TV sets obsolete wit tuners that would not work. This converter box searches out the free over-the-air signals from area television sets and makes these channels available for viewing.

I purchased this to use with an older TV that can't receive/tune OTA digital signals. I like the included remote. It was easy to setup and my Mom has no difficulty using the remote.

The box is awesome. The remote sometimes acts crazy. When you try to turn the volume down it changes the channel. It does pick up thirty to forty channels. I am happy with my purchase.

I have a Toshiba tube TV and can't justify getting rid of it to buy a flat screen. I recently got rid of cable and had to buy the digital converter box along with an HD digital antenna. It was easy to setup, the onscreen menu is very readable and it does the job very well.

This was so easy to install and use. The employee that helped me was very knowledgeable and gave me clear instructions on how to setup the converter box with the antenna.

I bought this unit to replace an older model Insignia box that I had for a few years. This one is about half the size of the older one and does all that I need it to do. My one, slight, disappointment is that the remote does not have a "Back" button to toggle back to the previous channel. The older model had that and it was quite convenient.

The converter with my antenna worked well together. Have more channels. However, some channels are better than others due to the distance of the stations towers.

It does give you about 20-25 channels. The receiver is not very strong and the remote is poor. It takes multiple zaps to make it change channels and adjust volume. Sometimes the TV reception is superior; othertimes, it is poor. However, none of these receivers are terribly dependable. The price that you pay for not subscribing to cable,

I had to call the company for help with the converter. The item was to download and I would see a menu.. That did not occur. The help was fine but there are still some inconveniences such as some stations are in Spanish the picture is too large for the screen.

I have used other brands I would recommend this one as it shows the signal strength when you use info. Only negative is the remote is not universal so you cannot use it to turn your TV on or volume control.

Converter makes my pictures much clearer and brighter. I just don't know how to set the times to EASTERN. I really enjoy how much larger the screen looks.

Honestly, I thought it was a little expensive. I got one with a coupon from the government when the analog/digital thing happened several years ago, but our house was robbed and I never got it out of the box before it was stolen. I don't have anything to compare this one to, but I am satisfied and not sorry I purchased it.

When my evil cable co decided that all TVs in the house had to use their cable boxes (at $5.00 a month), I decided I would buy a HD receiver for my less used TV. For no more than I use that TV, it works good. plus I don`t have to send my evil cable company 5 bucks a month for it to sit there for several months on end without using it. I wouldn`t however recommend it to be my primary source of TV reception for my home.

Plug and Play - all you need is an antenna to hook the unit up to receive all your local HDTV digital signals if you don't have an HDTV as this converts the signal to analog to view Digital content on the old tube type Television sets.

The item works very well, and it was a gift for a low income family with kids who can't afford cable or satellite. Welcome to the new world where many people are just barely getting by.
