Had a previous 3rd party dock fail and others have stopped working too, maybe due to recent firmware updates? I miss those because they were basically a dongle and very discreet. The Nintendo dock is cumbersome to travel with, so a smaller dock is very welcome. This dock is smaller than the Nintendo one, but its still a bit bulky compared to my previous dongles. It definitely fits better into a travel bag and includes everything you need: Power adapter, HDMI cable, and the smaller dock. The best feature: it just works! At this point, I’m happy to trade size for functionality since the dongles don’t seem to work anymore. So, rather than taking a chance on other docks/dongles from online retailers, this one will work guaranteed. Plus, it has everything included for a “one-stop” travel dock.

Works perfectly at half the cost of the original. Insignia seems to be very underrated for many of their products. I hav bought several of them and have been very satisfied with all of them. You can't beat the price. I have heard about some issues with other docks but I have been using this almost daily and it works perfect.

I was always wary of 3rd party docks due to the Nyko Switch dock fiasco (basically they did not regulate power properly and caused Switch systems to burn out the video out chips). That's the original reason I didn't purchase the Insignia dock sooner, but I'm pleased to say that this dock works perfectly with no problems. There is a well-regarded thread on Reddit from an engineer explaining why this dock is safe, and why it does not pose the risk the (thankfully out of print) Nyko dock. The Insignia dock comes with everything you need; the dock, HDMI cable, and USB C charge adapter. The dock itself is weighted and stays in place relatively well. I like how the front profile is lower than an official dock. It ended up saving me space on my entertainment center. My V1 Switch has a glass screen protector on it, so it was a bit of a snug fit in this dock. Not enough to worry me when docking, but I figured I'd mention it. The dock works on my main HD TV as well as my 15.6" portable monitor. Signal came through just fine on both displays. This will come along with my family when we travel for sure!

Great dock, still going strong after a year. Very convenient kit, less expensive than the OEM dock, plus it's portable since it's very compact. Since there is not tall front cover, there is no issue of scuffing on the Switch's screen. The equivalent to this now is the Rocketfish brand.

Significantly smaller than the original dock, but only has one USB port, which is the only problem I have with this dock. It has a great matte finish, and strong build. I feel like dropping this would hurt the floor more than it would hurt the dock. It's a great kit if you move your dock often and travel with it. You get an AC adapter with the dock, while the Nintendo dock itself is far more expensive, and the official Nintendo adapter itself is nearly the price of this kit. -Goes in a little stiff, I'm used to giving it a slight push when I slide it in the original dock, but since it doesn't have walls to hold it in, I'm guessing it's just stiff to keep it properly in place. -Dock has a nice weight to it, and the rubber feet are quite stiff, giving it good friction if you happen to pull it by the moving cables or whatnot. -Dock does not have a TV/tabletop mode, so when you dock your Switch it will always try to go into TV mode, even if no HDMI cable is attached. -Have not checked if it runs hot, but with less covering the Switch should allow it to cool more efficiently.

Bought this as a second dock to connect to a different TV (because I got tired of moving the original Switch dock back and forth). It does exactly what the factory one does... in a smaller footprint (also making it easier to travel with) and a MUCH better price point. Even comes with an HDMI cable. I definitely recommend this.

This works great! Just like the original one that came with the Nintendo Switch and around half the cost of the original one. I bought this one so that I can take it with me when we go out of town and stay in hotels. I've used it 4 times and it works great each time. It does not come with an HDMI cable tho.

I like this dock because its smaller and better designed than the stock Switch Dock. While I bought this to travel around with, I ended up replacing the stock dock with this one because I like the way the dock holds the switch better. Comes with charger and cable, all for less than half of the stock one. I highly recommend.

This little dock is great for travel. It comes with a the dock and a power adapter that can be used to charge the switch on its own. It is , smaller and much more portable than the dock that comes with the switch. I used it for travel recently and it was much more friendly to transport. Great dock for half the price

I was looking for another Dock so I can play in another room, and saw this. This is half the price of the dock from Nintendo and it is awesome. it is compact in case you want to travel with it, and charges good and I can play on another tv without unplugging from main television. Love it

This Switch dock is great for travel. It easily fits into a bag and doesn't take up nearly as much room as the official Switch Dock. It performs just as well as the official dock but costs less than half the price. Definitely recommended for those looking to pick up an additional dock.

I purchased the insignia dock for a 2nd room for my Nintendo switch and it works great. Have had zero problems with it. It does everything I need it to do and is actually smaller than the Nintendo product available and has a less chance of scratching your screen.

I bought this to use as a secondary dock in our family room to avoid moving back and forth between rooms when the kids wanted to play. For the price this works great and accomplished what I wanted. Easy to set up, small, and works as intended.

I was pleasantly surprised by this dock. At $40, the dock + HDMI cable + power source and is a nice deal. The dock has worked perfectly well for me and as I would expect a first party dock to work. A fantastic, better priced alternative to Nintendo's offering.

When my wife bought me my switch for my birthday, one of the first things I looked into was another dock. At first I considered another factory dock from Nintendo, but after reading the issues many had with scratching their screens (which resulted in me buying a screen protector right away), I did not want to shell out $70 for something that may eventually cause damage to the product it is intended to work with. Here's where the Insignia dock comes in. The dock is easy to place your switch on, albeit it is not as "drop-in" friendly as the factory dock - meaning be careful to not just drop it and go. Ensure you have it aligned before docking the switch. Being that it is smaller than the factory dock, it also is easy to travel with. Definitely worthwhile to pick one of these up (or a few) if you tend to play among different rooms in your house as I do.

Wow....this was on sale for $35. After reading user reviews and also investigating on Reddit I decided to give this little guy a go. Works great. Use it in my arcade and also use it on the go as its much smaller and easier to transport than the N dock. Only thing to be aware of is this dock only has 1, presumably USB2 port. That's OK as there is currently no USB3 support on Switch (yet but official dock has a 3.0 port). This will only be an issue in the future if they start supporting removable USB storage options. Again for $35 super deal and much 'safer' than the Nyko dock.

The is a nice sturdy dock. It is great for portability as it is smaller than the original dock, and less than half the price. Comes with HDMI and power cable. The only down side is the lack of a spring assist on the charge port, so be careful when putting your Switch on it so you don't damage the system.

I use this dock mainly when traveling with the Switch (I do this a lot) because I really hate disconnecting the Nintendo dock then having to redo/reconnect all parts and you don't risk losing or damaging the Nintendo dock. I love the Insignia dock for four reasons: 1) smaller than the original dock which leads to point 2) more portable and travel friendly, 3) it doesn't break the bank and 4) it works and feels like great quality. When I'm not using it during travel it is a second charging station which is extremely convenient for me since. Definitely recommending adding this to your arsenal if you're going to be traveling or want to have a second charging station or even attach it to a second TV in the home.

I somehow lost my original dock in my move across the country (it's still driving me crazy that I have no idea where it went), so I needed a replacement. The official Nintendo brand was like $80 or something crazy like that, so I continued looking. I was nervous reading the different reviews on this and other docks about bricking the system, but this one was the best option according to multiple websites and the price was great. I've now had it for almost 2 months and have not had one problem. Granted, I don't use my switch everyday, but no signs of any problems and I actually like this dock a lot better as well! It sits in there nice and tight, and no walls surrounding the whole thing. I would absolutely recommend to anyone needing a replacement or just an additional dock for travel or separate rooms. It comes with the cords as well, so no need to disconnect everything if using as an extra!

The "Insignia™ - Dock Kit with HDMI and USB for Nintendo Switch - Black" is an absolutely worthwhile investment for those who feel that the original Nintendo Switch dock leaves a little to be desired. The original Switch dock has much taller side walls than this, which brought with it a few major design oversights: 1) in order to remove your Switch, you need to lift it several inches in order to clear the walls. This is not an idea situation when the Switch resides on a shelf in a cabinet or any area where there are clearance concerns. This dock allows you to put the Switch on virtually any surface, as you only need to lift the Switch a couple inches at most to remove it from its cradle. 2) having taller sidewalls means that the likelihood of the Switch screen rubs on it is greatly increased. This can cause abrasions to the screen and overall housing of the Switch. This dock as essentially no sidewalls, so when you perform the docking and undocking processes, your Switch won't be susceptible to abrasions that you would encounter with the original dock. 3) the more you have to move the Switch to remove it from the dock, the higher the likelihood that you could mishandle it and potentially drop it, causing damage to the system. This dock allows you to dock and undock your Switch with ease, so as soon as you slide it out, it's out and fully in your hands. 4) the bulky design of the original dock is an eyesore, particularly when there is no Switch in it and you're looking at this massive component taking up space in your home theater. This dock is a very slender overall profile, which lends itself to to flexibility as to where it can be placed and not be a distraction. I would say the quality rivals that of the original Nintendo version. I highly recommend this product. I recommend it so highly that I purchased two of them -- one for the living room TV and one for the bedroom.
