This is an excellent tablet and a great value

I actually happen to find this tablet in one of my local Best Buy stores. After using the display model I decided to pick one up and test it out. First I will say that the only thing not so great about this device is the screen does not look that great depending on the viewing angle. I have been streaming Netflix while working on this review and it looks great with the tablet sitting upright at a slight angle but I notice if I change it to different angles the picture looks blurred. However when at the right angle the picture quality is not bad at all. This tablet has a 1024x768 resolution which is actually the same resolution of the iPad 2 and the iPad Mini (Non Retina display models). This tablet is also fast and very responsive. It is very easy to hold while reading, surfing the web, watching movies or gaming. The tablet is a bit heavier than some of the others in it's class though. This tablet was on sale when I purchased this tablet while it was on sale which makes it even more of a value. I would recommend this tablet to anyone in the market for a tablet that wont break the bank.

    Employee Review, Decent "Budget" Tablet

So I'm basing my review of this product on the "off and on" sale price of $99, which is realistically what I think it's worth. I would never see paying $199 for it. I think Best Buy / Insignia is onto something with this product and with some clever marketing and a few future improvements they'll have a solid product. The Good: I like the the feel of the tablet. It's stainless steel back and comfortable weight is perfect. The construction quality seems very good. The glass screen and aluminum back feels of the iPad quality. I like the feel of it much better than my $349 Samsung Note 8" which by comparison feels kinda cheap and flimsy. Performance is good, it's fast enough, but a future model with a Nvidia Tegra Processor and some more RAM would be nice.. Expandable memory is great, I have a 32gb Micro SD in mine. For most a cheap 8 or 16 gigabyte micro-sd would be fine. The Bad: The Screen quality leaves something to be desired, I was not impressed initially but after a few hours of use I became used to it and it no longer bothers me. However for anyone expecting a display of the iPad or Galaxy Tab quality, look elsewhere. On the plus side the screens actually clarity is good (1024x768), and is very responsive and accurate as far as it's touch capability. My biggest complaint is the lack of accessories. No Screen protectors, No case, No Sleeves, Nothing. I bought a ZAGG smudge-proof screen protector for an iPad air and cut it to fit. Summary; All things considered, if you can catch it on sale for around $99 dollars and you want a simple web browsing tablet I say go for it. Don't have iPad expectations though. Best Buy would have a killer product if they made a few improvements to the screen and processor, and If they could hit the $99-149 price point and have accessories available for it too they would have an outstanding product. That would give all other budget tablets a run for it's money.

Overall this is a great tablet! Bought it for my 9 yr old and he loves it. Its faster than my 3 yr old Acer tab, but the screen isn't as crisp or colorful. It seems very well constructed, lightweight but sturdy, and the touch screen is very responsive. The downsides are terrible built in speakers (but headphones sound great!) The aforementioned screen colors, and not a great camera. This is my second insignia product (own a 55" led TV) and so far I'm impressed. They get the core features you need down pat, are a great value, and seem well built. The sacrifice is that some of the extra fringe features are cut out to bring you the lower price point, but that's OK! Its nice to have a product that performs well without having to pay for stuff you may not need!!

I bought this tablet for my ten year old for Christmas as an alternative to her using my Samsung tablet. She was thrilled and so was I. The size of it is perfect for cnildren, as well as the chassis being metal.... A rare feature at this price point. It is easy to use, has tons of free choices of apps from the Google Play store, and is easy to find accessories for. Additionally, it uses a micro USB style charger so m lost people will have plenty of these laying around if they own any other Android products. The only gripe I have is the screen resolution, I have seen much better for the same money. Overall, the pros far out way the cons and both my daughter and myself couldn't be happier with the purchase.

We bought this for my 11 year old daughter so that she could personalize and use her own tablet and not have to share the family i Pad. It was very easy to set up and get going on, even though it did require a recommended 8 hour charge prior to use. It does require a Google account, just like all other android devices to use the Google store. It has a great picture and sound quality as well. The one thing I wish it had was parental controls, if it does then I can not find them and I have searched rigorously for them on the device. Overall, this is a great device at a great value and would recommend to anyone.

I purchased 3 of these at $80 each for my children this Christmas. My kids were thrilled. So far each of them have held up to the abuse expected from an 8, 6 and 3 year old. My only complaint is the speakers are on the back and dont get very loud (ie would be hard to hear dialog of a movie in a noisy location). On the other hand my kids are not blasting me out with Go Diego Go. Screen is good, battery life is suprisingly good, and price was unbeatable. I would highly recommend for anyone who wanted a tablet but didnt want to buy a high end Samsung.

I really like this tablet. I couldn't decide on which one I wanted and came across this one while shopping for Christmas gifts for my family. I was very pleased at the price. It was normally $199.99 and on sale for $79.99. I'm glad I choose this one. I am very pleased with it so far. I mainly play games on it. It's display is nice and bright and very sharp. The only draw back is the battery life. I wish I didn't have to charge it so often and I whis the volume was a little louder. All in all I am very satisfied with it!

We bought this tablet so that we could have something for our 2 year old to play games on and so that we can talk to family members in other states. We found the camera is not great but you can see the other person on the call. I find the tablet to be easy to use and would recommend to someone that is looking for an easy tablet to use. We also bought one for my parents and they are enjoying using it and do not understand technology at all. My mother finds it easy to use and download apps to.

I got this tablet as a gift and just finished setting it up for my grandfather a couple days ago. I must say, I'm very impressed with it, especially for the price. Performance is good and it's put together well. This is definitely a great budget tablet for someone who doesn't need the highest specs.

Bought this tablet on Black Friday online for $80. Normal price listed was $200. I would never pay $200 for this tablet. $80 is the perfect price. This tablet is quick and runs all of the apps I have tried from the Google Play Store. The screen could be clearer, but is still good for games and videos. Love it for the price.

while this tablet didn't say anything about its abilities or compatibilities with certain software platforms, it makes up for it in processing speed and cost. This is a first tablet for our 11 year old. We didn't think she would need anything as complex and capable as the vast majority of tablets out there, but needed something able to get online for homework research, entertainment, and homework tutorials and apps. We haven't had any issues with it thus far. The battery lasts much longer than the previous kids oriented tablet and isn't locked down by required propriety software most kids tablets are tied to.

While a great device for the price I paid. Had I not got this at a Black Friday price of $79 I would have been disappointed. It has no rear facing camera. I like the size of the display, but it cannot fit in a jacket pocket as some of the 7" androids I've seen. During Netflix or Youtube play I notice some glitchy flashes in between frames. The placement of the buttons on the rear is often hard to find. There is no out ports for connecting to a bigger screen. The low memory is restrictive on applications that can be installed and ran (even if you install a microSD card). In all. I like the price, but for the features, I would have not paid more for this unit as it is too restrictive.

Bought this tablet for my parents for Christmas on Black Friday for 79.99. At first I was skeptical because of how cheap the price was but when my parents opened it on Christmas Eve they loved. Funny my dad actually got my mom an iPad for Christmas, unknowing I had gotten them this tablet, and they actually brought it back! Now I'm not saying this tablet is better than the iPad but rather for their uses it did the job. If your just looking to surf the web, upload pictures, and download pretty simple apps then for the money this is the tablet for you. You cannot go wrong for the price and is especially good for users that our familiar using the android iOS as this is what this tablet provides.

Purchased on BF at a great price. Needed a spare tablet to get one less user for my iPad. This tablet is a great size and does all the things my daughter needs it for and has an SD slot to expand the memory as needed. Android based, so was very easy to set up and start using. Only real negative is the speakers are on the back, so to get any good sound out of it, it lays on its face. A stand may help.

This is a good working tablet all around. Will do pretty much anything you tell it "IF" its only one thing at a time. JUST surf theweb. JUST watch a movie, JUST play a game, but if you try todo to many things at once it gets alittlle choppy but for the most part you can avoid that and keep this tablet running smooth. I got this tablet for my wife to play her "Dragon kingdom" game and come to find out its not even compatible with this tablet but we kept it anyway. It works great. And for the price you just can't beat it. I will be getting another one :-)

I've been using this tablet for over a month. I wasn't expecting much and am pleasantly surprised. If you are looking for basic tablet for web surfing, candy crush saga, reading and all things social media then look no further. The sound quality isn't that bad. Finding a case is next to impossible. There is not a rear facing camera. Its a solid metal construction, you do feel it. I'm in like with this tablet.
