Customers are saying

Customers find value in the Full HD Dash Cam's outstanding video quality and ease of use, frequently praising its sharp resolution and convenient setup. However, some users express concerns regarding the lack of an internal battery and the need to purchase an SD card separately. Additionally, the mount's reliability, particularly the suction cup, is a point of contention among some customers.

Easy to set up and mount, I used a 1.25 inch-2 inch sized metal hose clamp on my rear view mirror bracket and got the Dashcam's mounting bracket to attach without needing the suction cup. The result is a well hidden device in front of the rear view mirror, rather than an exposed device at higher risk of a smash and grab theft. This is the only one of the three models I own that has the screw mount to the suction cup allowing for this easy modification. In this particular vehicle there were limited placement options due to the Lane assist cameras on either side of the mirror, so center placement was ideal. I have not done playback or looked at recorded images.

Well, it’s working fine at this very moment. I have to download the data and see what image is like. I will update on that. It is light, easy to install and easy to manage.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Firstly, the design of this camera is defective. The USB jack is too close to the suction plate (see image) and it’s always extremely difficult to connect the USB cable to the camera. Because of this design, the USB cable is broken, and then the camera stopped working. Although I accept that the video quality of this camera is good, but with its flawed design and poor overall quality, it stopped working m just two months after my purchase.

Camera is ok but does shut down when it is hot and will take a few minutes to restart. There is a flaw on the design on the cable. The port interferes with the suction cup mount and requires the cable to be slightly bent. I am not sure how long that port will last with the pressure being put on it.

I went with this dashcam over a Thinkware model solely for the suction cup mounting, as I need to be able to use the camera in different cars, which an adhesive mount is ill suited for. I also chose this for longer-term daily recording, which my GoPro was not suited to in the desert heat. Although the package provides a cigarette lighter power adapter, I actually power my camera using a portable battery bank. The dash cam consumes little power and boots up within a few seconds of power connection. So far it hasn't overheated yet, but it can get warm on the back screen. The quality is modest, decent during the day, but not the sharpest thing. Night footage isn't going to be stellar, especially without mast lighting, but it is better than no video. The video is quite stable overall and has a wide field of view. The bit rate is around 16 Mb/s, and on a 32 GB card I can easily fit my entire work week commute, which is usually about 70 minutes per day. The card can split video clips every few minutes based on preference and does overwrite in a loop when it gets full. Audio is sufficient. Overall the unit is good for the money. I might get another one for a rear dash camera.

This camera is great, it allows you to record based on motion. It’s easy to set up, you do need to buy a micro so card as it does not come with one. I would like the camera to have batteries that you can charge. You must plug the camera into your car for power, so basically any type of setting up must be done in your car. The picture quality on the screen does not look clear however, when you download the video from the device to your pc the picture is awesome. It’s a great price point for the type of camera you get. If you are looking for something to protect you while driving or provide some sort of surveillance when you are not in your car I highly recommend this camera. If you are looking to see what happens while you are sleeping just leave it plugged in and review the footage in the morning. I am giving 4 of 5 stars because I would like for the camera to operate on batteries as well. Other than that I would give it a 5 out of 5.

I wanted to put a video cam in my wife's vehicle, so after reading all the reviews, I decided on this Insignia product. The video quality is excellent and the night vision is also excellent, as I have tested it driving day and night in all types of lighted and dark conditions, and then removed the Micro SD Card and watched the video on my home computer and I was amazed in the clarity of the video! For the cost of this Insignia Dash Cam, it will do the job for you. Setup is very easy, as a child in the 4th. grade can hook it up! I do see other Dash Cams which cost hundreds of dollars more, but I cannot see what the major difference would be, as this Insignia Dash Cam is a great buy for the money!

This is a nice dash cam for the price. The video quality is fine and it does show a wide angle of the road. The only bad thing is the suction cup windshield mount. It did not work for me. I bought a mount that attaches to the rearview mirror and that works great.

Video quality is surprisingly good. Easy to set up. The suction cup works well, if one spends a couple of extra couple of moments to properly attach the suction cup. The battery has enough power to remember the dates and other pre-sets. Does not come with the mini SD card.

A Decent Dashcam with Some Drawbacks

It's a very basic and simple dashcam for anyone who wants to feel a little more at ease when on the road. Buttons and user interface are simple and easy to understand. It's design is meant to attach to the windshield only. I have a smaller car so attaching anything to my windshield blocks a lot of my vision. I stuck it on top of the dash which makes all video and pictures up-side down. It does not have built-in memory so a micro SD card is required. It does not have internal battery either. This is my biggest problem as I don't drive every day. If the camera is turned off for more than a day, the date and time will reset to factory default. As of now, I have to reset the date and time every week. If you do drive every day, this won't be a problem.

This Product is excellent for what I use it for . . . recording my daily driving activity to review road conditions. While many people use it for insurance purposes or hard-wire it to their vehicle via fuse box, at this time I have it plugged into the cigarette lighter. I am trying to find/see if a MicroUSB to MHL cord would push the video to a small screen that I can attach closer to my visual field so that I do not have to look under my front mirror. I would also like it to connect to an external HDD (currently have a 64 GB Card connected) so that I do not have to keep unloading the clips every week. Due to COIVD-19, I am not driving everyday so after 2-3 days, it does reset the time back to the initial date (01/01/2017). However, I would not dock a rating for this because if you hard-wire it, this issue would not occur. I would buy another one but I do not believe Best Buy makes it anymore . . . I actually purchased a returned item that was missing one piece but I went to Home Depot and used a small screw to secure it I have not seen any Meteor Impacts like in the Russian Federation, but People are very bad drivers and I have seen multiple vehicular violations [Red Light, RT of Way, etc.], which has made me a more conscientious driver.

This dash cam is relatively inexpensive but works very well. The instruction is clear, very easy to follow. It has enough functions to cover everything that I need. The video is very clear even inside the car during nighttime. I took it to a road trip the first time. When I got into a rental car, it took me only few minutes to set up. Motion activation works so well and saves a lot of memory. The replay is also user friendly and I can delete any segment right on the dash cam. I like it so much that I may buy few more to have one in each of my cars. I would recommend to anyone.

We bought two of these for our own cars. Our son was in a serious accident and his dashcam (which cost hundreds) caught everything clearly showing the at fault party. This cam had many of the festures of his expensive unit, at a much lower price point The quality of the video display is very good. It also has a clever suction mount device which attaches it firmly to the windshield with the flip of a lever. The only major shortfall is the lack of bluetooth capability to allow video download without removing the SD card.

I use this daily just in case of accident documentation or to document a stop by law enforcement. It a great tool for that, basically "an undeniable witness". The price on sale is unbeatable for what you get. Great quality video. Night video is weak though. What I didn't know thought is that it is a 5 minute loop recorder, and I thought that was ALL I got. So was real disappointed at first until I popped in the SDCARD to PC. There were many many 5 minute clips going back a day or two. Plus you have a button to save and "EVENT" if there is one you want to ensure is saved. Recommend. But only on sale.

Although this camera lacks some features that would make it a 5 star rating it still is a very good camera for the money. One thing i think the manufacturer should change is the screw on the suction cup mount. Mine came with the round part you turn to tighten on the side where you plug in the power cord. This is a problem because it blocks your ability to swivel the camera. All you have to do is reverse the screw and it's all good. Other than that it is working out well so far. Video and sound quality are very good. Gforce sensor built in and It's fairly customizable with the settings. I feel for $80 it's well worth it.

Seemed like a good camera for the price, good picture quality. I had no issues until about 6 months into using it, when the camera no longer fit securely in the mount and would fall out while I was driving. Around this time the suction cup stopped working as well, and I had to discontinue using the product as it had turned into a hazardous projectile, falling off randomly while I was driving. I contacted Insignia customer support and after a few back and forth emails with nice customer service representatives, the solution was that my issue was due to continuous use wearing down the product (even though I had not moved it from its mount since I had purchased it) and that I should get a new suction cup and use adhesive to keep the camera in place. While this is a good price for a dash cam, I would recommend investing in a better quality product.

Pros: Inexpensive Good video and audio Easy to use Easy to transfer files Cons: Suction cup mount is plastic so expect it to break if you continuously remove the camera. I super glued my camera to the mount and its easier to just remove the whole unit rather than wear out the notch.
