The middle ground between foam & gaming mouse pad.

This item was a compromise for me as I recently acquired the high-end gaming mouse from Alienware and wanted something better than a cheap foam mouse pad or worse, the desktop to use with it, but wasn't willing to shell out $50 or more for a mouse pad that lights up (gaming mouse pad). Surprisingly, this item worked well. It has two options for usable surfaces and the non-slip feet are well designed and placed. PROS - Economical alternative to the more expensive gaming mouse pads - Larger surface area than traditional mouse pads allow for a broader range of movement - Two-sided allow for more or less resistance based on your preference for your mouse - The non-slip feet, while not fully non-slip, work well, and while they seem to be in the way, are actually well placed and effective. - Extremely low-profile - Nice look with the metal and black contrast, fits well with a regular computer for work or a gaming system's overall look. - Has a unique design with cutouts for various placement and personal preference for use. CONS - It still seems a little expensive for what it is. If the price were to drop another $5, the price point would fit just about right for the item. - It can still move around if you are an aggressive gamer which could be problematic in key moments of a game.

Works great with Apple Magic Mouse 2

Previously, the glide strips bottom of my Apple Magic Mouse 2 would quickly become coated with a film from my desk's work surface, causing resistance to movement across that surface. As a result, I was cleaning those glides daily. (Cleaning the desk surface itself made no difference.) A fabric mouse pad I first tried also offered resistance to movement. This Insignia product has a textured yet hard surface that the Apple mouse glides across surprisingly well, with no contamination buildup on those glides. I used the "speed surface" side, which has only a slight texture, for the first few weeks . . . it worked OK. I then flipped it over with the "control surface" side (which has a coarser texture) facing up, and WOW, its almost like the Apple mouse is gliding across a sheet of ice, and with great cursor tracking. I do not game on my computer, but for my purposes, this Insignia Gaming Mouse Pad is a great match to the Apple Magic Mouse 2.

Bought this mouse pad to use when I'm gaming that requires speed and control. While the description states that this mousepad does both of those functions, I did not find that to be true. The control side is "coarse" and the mouse drags across it, creates an annoying noise, and has to at some point wear out the bottom glides on your mouse. i found I had less control on this feature. The "speed" surface is very smooth, also has a 'rasping" annoying sound, and the mouse skids across the surface with a "lag", and does not increase any speed, especially for rapid movement on game playing. Tried several times to be fair and give me more time to get used to it, but it is definitely less effective than the mousepad I've been using for 10 yrs. Oh well......

The speed surface of this mouse mat is quite good; control surface on the opposite side - not so much. My mouse doesn't even recognize the control surface as an actual surface at all...the cursor just kinda jumps around randomly when I try to use it. Fortunately, I do not need the control surface,, and the speed surface works fine for my tastes. It is a shame that both sides aren't equally good, however, because the price is quite high for what it actually is. Another little niggle is the rubber pads on both sides - these do not work well if you use it as a mobile setup, because the pads quite often rub against your other gear, like a laptop, or a cooler, and risk of pads being removed are quite high. Still, for my use, it has been a good investment over standard flexible mouse pads that are on offer.

this mousepad is essentially a glorified sheet of aluminum with textured paint on each side, the "speed" and "control" sides do feel different but they don't seem to affect the mouse movement in any way, other than the control side feeling awful to use, like sandpaper. I knew this product was gimmicky when I got it but I purchased it in store because it appeared to be much bigger than a standard mousepad in the box that it was in, and that's what I wanted it for, but it was not the case, a large amount of the box was empty. it's only slightly larger than a standard mousepad but the pointless shape and rubber feet cut off some of that usable space. If this product was 5$ or so I would recommend it, but it's nowhere near worth 20$

This has been the greatest mouse pad I've ever owned. That may sound silly, but the fact is that many mouse pads simply don't track well with some optical mice (or vice versa, I suppose). This has two surfaces: a textured side, which allows for more controlled movement, and a smooth side that works well for speed. I personally only use the textured side, and love it. The most important thing, though, is that this is a durable hard pad that offers versatility in where I can use my mouse. No more pants-leg tracking for me while traveling! There are also rubber "feet" on the corners of the pad that prevent it from sliding around on smooth surfaces (though mine have started to shift somewhat, they are still attached). Love it!

I love this product. It is more than just a mouse pad. It has a lot of real estate which helps with the 27” screen on my iMac. Smaller mouse pads only left me with the option to speed up the mouse. This pad allows me greater control without having to tweak my mouse settings to the point it alters my comfort zone with everyday use. The price was very reasonable, and you have two different options on speed of the mouse travel based on which side of the pad you are using as well. It has a surface that does not feel like the mouse is being dragged through the mud. Very fast, responsive, stylish, and functional for gaming or everyday use!

I find the pad to be very comfortable and can easily switch between professional and casual use. It's double sided so depending on how much resistance you like you can switch between the two. The thicker grain on one side is great for doing detail work in photoshop and what not. The smooth side is great for gaming and fast movement. The only downside I have is that each side has a set of numbs which are to make sure it is always separate from the table. The problem is because it's double sided you now have these small nubs on the surface which can interfere with movement. All in all, I'm pleased with the purchase. It will last me way longer than the traditional rubber pad.

Initially I did not take a hard surface pad for anything special, however this one has two sides to it. a "Fast" and a "textured" side. Both have their usefulness and surprisingly it makes a difference when i'm aiming in FPS games at least from first glance. Though, precise aim seems to be a more granular thing with sniper rifles among other weapons too. The only real bad side to this is the fact it doesn't have multiple color options. No not RGB just like a white, or gray option

Let me start by saying I'm not a gamer. My computer use is strictly music-based. I write & record with a Mac using Logic via a Focusrite Scarlett & various mics/outboard gear. I use a Magic Mouse (best ever) & needed a pad with some stiffness as I don't always work directly at my desk. I love the rougher side as it gives me some resistance to my movements. Insignia also did a good job with the quality, the thing just looks well made (& pretty sharp next to my silver/white keyboard & mouse!)

With the varying kind of mice available and all the varying work surfaces it was difficult to find a consistent performance. Traditional mousepads would fray and collect lint/dust/stains. Using the mouse directly on the desk surface sometimes caused unpredictable behavior. This pad gives two options for surface texture. It never moves/slides, doesn't scratch or fray and is easy to clean. It comes in a very handy shape to fit next to the keyboard and has convenient rubber bumpers on the corner to keep it from sliding or scratching finished work surfaces. Excellent and simple product. Great value.

I bought this mouse pad, since it's available at my local Best Buy stores. I'm not sure if being in Alaska accounts for having less of a selection or the demographic just isn't here, but it's the only hard mouse pad I found at Best Buy. That being said, it's great for what it is, albeit, a bit on the spendier side. It's a slab of what I assume is aluminum, covered in textured plastic on each side. One is smooth, the other is a bit rough. I paid for convenience, as I didn't want to wait for a gaming mouse pad to come through the mail. It works really well!

Wanted a hard mouse pad that I could use on the couch. Product feels durable and does what I intended. My only complaint is that there are rubber legs on both sides of the mouse pad so that it stands up slightly on a table surface. I think it would have been fine without them, or maybe make them smaller (so it doesn't stand so high from the table surface). But like I said, I bought it for the couch, so not as big of a deal for me.

I personally am a big fan of Razer products. When I switched desks to a smaller desk my Goliath was too big for the new desk. I looked at the Razer Line of hard mouse pads and couldn't justify spending that much without knowing if I would like this style. I found the insignia version and figured it's the right price if I don't like it wouldn't be a bad loss. In the end I'm liking this pad. Works great for the different genre games I'm playing and it does not move around on me like some soft ones would. My only complaint is a wrist support makes using it more comfortable.

This is a metal mouse pad with two different textured surfaces - one on each side. The smooth surface is much too fast for just about every use. The "rough" side is not rough enough. Being metal the friction noise is very loud for a mouse. I am going to purchase a large standard textured cloth over rubber base pad and then glue the thing over the metal pad to make it strong and stable. By itself this mouse pad is next to worthless.

Although this is a gamers product, I utilize it as a designer. It is an ideal surface for both precision and fast-paced maneuvering. Aside from durability, what I like about this surface the most is that fact that it stays put!!!! It is well-built, very rigid and was designed with the users workspace limitations in mind. The curved outer edges allow for my keyboard to sit right next to the surface perfectly as if it were made specifically for it. Paired with the mouse that I use (Logitech MX Master) this is an unbeatable combination at a great price!

I have purchased 2 of these now and it's only because tha6 are great pads. They have 2 different sides that function differently if you have a gaming mouse that supports calibration to a surface. They take up very little room on a desk. They also last for a while before they start to show signs of wear and tear. My first one is still working great but has a few minor wear markings on it after about 3 years. Overall I would highly recommend this mousepad as a budget gaming/hard surface pad.

I really like how Insignia sells products other companies charge what seems like a fortune for, for much less. It serves the purpose as advertised. I mostly use the smoother side as I don't want to run down my mouse feet. My one complain would just be that the aluminum edges are a bit sharp at some points, so if you are not careful it may cut you given the proper positioning (kind of like a paper cut. You won't always get a paper cut if you slide your finger across the edge of paper, but under the right angle and other factors, it happens).

I have gone through many pads over the years and only a few ever passed my standards. I recently tried a pad that was $70 it felt and worked very well however under heavy daily use the actual pad surface peeled up. This pad despite being beaten up, washed, etc.. has lasted for years without any problems. I can't compare it to using a soft flexible pad because I have not touched one of those in 15 years. Hard pads are the only way to go for anyone who spends more then an hour a week using one.

I always took a peek at this pad in my best but visits. Got some imparial advice from the computer team in my best buy and went for it its a two sided mouse pad that is most suited for gamers and I am not a gamer but let me tell you, its sleek, highly accurate and comfortable but I have to tell you, if you want speed and accurate placement of your cursor, its the sharpest all around pad I have ever owned and compliments all gaming and laptop users. Go for it at your best buy or best buy in line. Thanks Best Buy
