|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Insignia Macbook Pro 13.3” hard case is a very reasonably priced option that I argue is just as good as anything else on the Best Buy website. I used to walk right past the Insignia brand products when I was a customer, but little did I know how good the quality of the products were. Since taking a look, I almost always use the Insigna cases for my iPhones, I have a TV mount I bought, so a case for my Macbook was a logical choice. I prefer a transparent cover on my laptops, as I like to decorate them the way I want. Or at times I don’t put anything on the transparent covers because the construction of the Mackbook if nice and you get to have the scratch protection without sacrificing the looks of the device. To start, the price point is on point. Significantly better then the competition. To be completely honest? I cannot tell any difference between this cover and any clear ones made by other companies. The most important thing for me is how well if fits. This case snaps tight and there is no movement or sliding once its on. There is no overlap where your ports are, specifically the cut outs are in the perfect location. The case is not bulky. It is thin and light and after you put in on you pretty much forget it is in the Mackbook. But let there be no doubt, this is not some sort of drop resistant protection for your computer. This is for bumps and scratches, that sort of thing. All in all, this is a great product and if you are in the market for something like this for your Macbook, and I challenge you to take the time and check out the difference between this one and the competition. I think you will find this is just as good if not better than the one if the shelf next to it. I recommend it to anyone looking to protect their device, but want something that will maintain the natural beauty of that device.

Gets marked easily and not clear

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Insignia coming out with a MacBook/Air/Pro snap case line was exciting - An alternative to the expensive Incase ones or the super-cheap ones found online from overseas manufacturers was a welcome addition. Unfortunately, this product is just an Insignia re-labeling of one of those cheap products to be avoided from online retailers. The fit is good, but the finish is... As bad as it gets. I usually prefer a darker case, and the "dots" snap cases are my favorites, but this one is a thin, shiny-on-the-inside with a "cloudy" veneer on the outside of the case that gives it a rubbery/grippy texture. The production seams where the plastic parts were injection molded are still visible, and in some cases make for sharp edges along the sides of the palmrest and along the display border. The simple act of better smoothing/finishing these edges would have gone a long way to improve the fit and finish, but it wouldnt be the whole solution - These clear cases also suffer from a strange and frustrating phenomenon to do with their rubbery/grippy coating. Whenever hands touch this stuff, oils from the hands or anything else the notebook comes in contact with leave stains of shiny, smeary appearance all over the device. These are next to impossible to remove, as the finish can't really be fully restored once its been touched. This makes the snap case look terrible after only a few days of use, and is largely unable to be kept clean. Many MacBook users use snap cases to protect the appearance of their high-end device and expect it to enhance/protect its appearance also, which this case doesnt to a great job of. Insignia should look into ditching the rubbery texture and go to a textured plastic case instead.
