I have a 4K TV and can also confirm I still get 4K video using this. Set up was easy and it works as advertised. Xbox Series X and S do not have optical ports either, so I'd imagine this could provide the same convenience when set up correctly.

Good to connect Astro A50s to ps5 and monitor
