This device is a waste of money. IT DID NOT WORK! No wonder there were 5 open box units available and only one new in Box. “Now there will be 6 open box SKUs available. Because I’m sure BEST BUY WILL JUST PUT THIS NON WORKING RETURN BACK ON THE SHELF.

Extract the sound signal from your HDMI

Works just as advertised with no instructions needed.

By the time you figure this out, it is non-returnable because of Best Buy’s crappy 14-day return policy!

It will not pass through Dolby 5.1 to the HDMI out (basically to the connected TV or sound bar) when set to 2 channel for the analog audio-out to function. It will ONLY pass stereo when set to allow analog-out 2 channel. If the device is set to 5.1ch then it will pass Dolby 5.1 out through the HDMI-out but that THEN turns off the analog (headphone or speaker) output. So bottom line- when set to use the 3.5 analog (headphone) output it will NOT pass Dolby 5.1 on through the HDMI out to a TV or sound bar.
