Does what it claims! Perfect for a 4k projector

This worked perfectly for my needs. I needed to send a 4k HDR signal from my roku to my projector and receiver separately because my receiver isn't new enough to pass the signal through itself. I tried a 4k hdmi splitter first but it downconverted both signals to 1080p because of my receiver. This extractor pfixed the issue and was cheaper as well!

Used for pulling audio out of projector signal to feed to theater receiver. A little finicky but I suspect that’s mostly due to the receiver.

    Working at 120hz @ 1440p on Xbox Series X

Insignia has answered several questions on this product page stating that it does not support 120hz @ 1440p and they are wrong. HDMI 2.0b (which this product uses) supports up to 144hz @ 1440p so I took a chance and picked one up today. I hooked it up to my Xbox Series X and it works just fine at 120hz with a resolution of 1440p. It is important to note that you cannot use VRR. Also, the cables you use absolutely matter. I have the HDMI 2.1 cable that comes with the Series X going from the console to the Insignia HDMI Audio Extractor, and another HDMI cable that is rated for 48Gbps (way more than this outputs) from the Extractor to my monitor. If you can't get this to work at 120hz @ 1440p there is likely an issue on your end so check your settings.

    Good product, poor sales person

This review is for three items purchased from Best Buy. First was LG 24" 24LF454B-PU, this was to replace TV in my motorhome. Did not need top end TV when only used up to 30 days a year. This TV only has (1) one HDMI and no other output/input Port. The internal sound on the TV has a lot to be desired. With the generator running was about impossible to hear. Had been using laptop to watch DVD, this was no good either. I went to Best Buy and explained my issue, and wanted a DVD and a Mimi Sound Bar. I took the spec on my TV showing that it only had one HDMI port. The first sales person said that it was not the best solution but sold me Sony DVD player, Insigia (Best Buy brand) Mini 2.0 Channel Mini Sound Bar, and also Insignia HDMI Audio Extractor. I had no idea on what to do with the extractor. I ran the HDMI cable from the only port on the TV to the Sony DVD player. The Sony player has RCA output. I ran the RCA output to the Sound Bar, that has RCA input. I am not good about reading installation instructions, they refer to many things I do not understand. I did get sound out of the sound bar one time. The next time I tried to play a DVD no sound. I also was having problems entering program setup on the DVD. Pack up DVD, sound bar and audio extractor. I returned the audio extractor. Talked to a second salesman ask how use setup to use the sound bar. Told hem I had got audio from the sound bar. Asked hem about installation instructions. He told me that he did not use them. Maybe he better start, and maybe he should know about Insigia (Best Buy brand) Sound Bar capabilities. He check out the Sony DVD not entering setup, and found it to be defective. Best Buy gave me a new one. I went home and called Sony tech support. He was very good. He said if the sound bar had RCA input, that it should have some setting for the RCA input. Sure enough I read the installation instruction showed settings for RCA inputs. May Best Buy sales people should understand they do not know everything, or do not tell customers they do.

If you have a ps5 and you have a headset with tps cable. (High def audio) you can buy this instead of getting a new headset. (Ps5 didn’t come with right plug in for steel series Arctis pro wireless) plug it in to this and headset is louder and better than before.

Works well with almost all HDMI 2.0 specs: 4K60hz pass, 1440p120hz pass, 1080p120hz… pulls out the pristine digital PCM or Dolly Digital optical signal for your stereo. Unfortunately, this unit breaks Variable Refresh Rate function for Series X and my high frame rate +VRR LG Display.

Works for getting audio out to a sonos soundbar for a 40 inch monitor converted to a TV w/o ARC. Note it didn't work with the multichannel, just gave surround background. Previously tried a Chinese random brand and was intermittent.

I’m very happy with the quality of sound I’ve gotten from this device. I’ve used it with an Xbox series s connected to a monitor because the monitor I had bought didn’t have a head phone port, this solved that problem as I was easily able to connect it into the HDMI port on the monitor within 15mins and get it up and running. Another cool thing about this device is that it also allows you to use speakers if you don’t have headphones or don’t want to use them, would definitely recommend.

This works good. I got a new soundbar with a wireless sub, that has simulated surround sound. I don't have a smart TV and/or with digital out. I have alway discovered in past the digital sound (optical and/or from a direct HDMI) is better quality, I looked around for something that could extract or convert to digital. I hooked this to my Roku Premiere and works Realy good. and can tell the difference from a direct output from the line out or using a bluetooth adaptor connecting to headphone line out jack on TV. It does come with a power cord but no other cables, also discovered can use a regular micro USB cable to power uses same voltage, amps and/or watts of a standard USB port and/or phone charger, the power cord comes with is kind of long depending on where place.

Works great with Elgato HD60 X

I have it chained with a Philips 4-port HDMI switch, into an Elgato HD60 X capture card, into this, which sends the video to a monitor that doesn't have audio output, and the audio to a basic soundbar. If there's been no audio signal going through it, it can take a couple seconds for it to start passing along output, which is annoying but not abnormal for low-cost receivers (which is what this basically is). You could also conceivably put it in front of a capture card that doesn't support surround sound (like the Elgato I have) and send the audio to a separate audio mixer to get surround sound input for OBS. Pick it up open-box if it's available, it's a better value and still works like new.
