Good for device/TV with no digital output.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This works good. I got a new soundbar with a wireless sub, that has simulated surround sound. I don't have a smart TV and/or with digital out. I have alway discovered in past the digital sound (optical and/or from a direct HDMI) is better quality, I looked around for something that could extract or convert to digital. I hooked this to my Roku Premiere and works Realy good. and can tell the difference from a direct output from the line out or using a bluetooth adaptor connecting to headphone line out jack on TV. It does come with a power cord but no other cables, also discovered can use a regular micro USB cable to power uses same voltage, amps and/or watts of a standard USB port and/or phone charger, the power cord comes with is kind of long depending on where place.

Just Right
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had to extract audio from HDMI because my display has no speakers and no audio out. Works perfectly for this use case, and I imagine it works just as perfectly in every other of its appropriate use cases. Nice unit, and I love getting my gear from Best Buy whenever I can.

Good Product!
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good product, but did have some minor connectivity issues. All in all it works great with my projector audio! It did take some work to set it up properly, and occasionally the projector wont recognize that its connected. This may be a projector issue rather than the convertor, but one i restart it works great!

Useful for a PC to a Surround Sound System
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does what is intended to a degree for audio from a graphics card to a surround sound system. It won't push a Dobly or DTS codec from the HDMI port of the graphics card if you're only using it for the optical out (no video). You'll have to download a modded audio driver, edit the EDID, and use spatial audio from DTS or Dolby. I ended up buying a sound card because it kept causing resolution issues with certain games because it is viewed as an additional monitor. If you can live with that it does what you need it to.

Does the job better than other options!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am running Bose 901 speakers on and older pioneer reciever that has no modern connection methods. This device takes the audio from your hdmi input and converts it to a usable analog audio that sounds phenomenally better than other methods, like optical to analog for example.

Works but not for what I needed
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I initially bought this so I can get surround sound from the HDMI of my Nintendo Switch and Wii U. Both those systems don't offer spdif output. But even with this device it didn't work. I later found out those 2 consoles only output surround uncompressed, which this device can't use. It only works for uncompressed stereo or DTS/Dolby Digital 5.1.

Works like a charm!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works like a charm with my Astro a40 Gaming Headset and Ps5. The only downside is this does not have an included HDMI cable like the Astro Optical Adapter comes with and in order to hook up successfully you need ypur Console HDMI cable Plus you will need one more HDMI cord to attach to back of adapter and them into tv.. Keep in mind you need 2 HDMI cords if you want to use an Astro Headset. The device works as suppose to but it would have been nice to include the HDMI cord as the Astro adapter is $10 cheaper as well as includes the cord. So its possible but Insignia Best Buy with their device couldnt include it. This is for a 2.0 HDMI setup and as of right now there are no 2.1 adapters. So, hopefully that gets made so other Astro users that have the newest tv’s can use their headsets as well.

Extracts 5.0 Optical from HDMI cable
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to extract the 5.0 audio from a HDMI connected TV which only had a stereo output and I wanted a 5.0!optical output. Worked as advertised. I purchased an Open Box extractor to save a few bucks.

Does Not Support HDR
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought Insignia™ - HDMI Audio Extractor with 4K @ 60Hz / HDR Support - Black Model:NS-HZ340; SKU:6324750 a few months ago in preparation for when I purchased my new projector. The audio extractor works great for pushing out a 5.1 audio signal to my Sonos sound system while still supplying a nice 4k picture to my previous video system. The reason for only 3 stars is because the audio extractor does not support HDR as mentioned in the in the title of the link. I have thoroughly inspected my cables to ensure they are HDMI 2.1 compliant and the only limiting factor I can find is the audio extractor. When connecting my HDR sources directly to the video system I can change HDR option menus, but when I add the audio extractor my HDR menu is then grayed out.
