However, the best audio stream I was able to extract was recognized as Pro Logic II by my AVR and not 5.1 DD or DTS, despite digging into a range of audio settings on the Roku and Apple TV 4K. So, is it better than nothing? Yes... but I was hoping to pull the full 5.1 DD/DTS stream from the HDMI and have my AVR recognize it as such, and I wasn't able to achieve that. Ended up returning it.

But it works, unlike some capture cards that can capture 4K60 and 1080p60 and refuse to tolerate high refresh rates.

Sony and Microsoft shortsightedly didn’t include one but this device solves the problem of not being able to use an amplifier. Unfortunately the maximum refresh to the screen is limited to 60hz @ 4K but most people wouldn’t notice it.

I have my PS5 connect to this device for video feed to my TV and the audio which plays off my PC speakers. There is an option to switch it to 5.1 to 2.1 vice versa, which makes it awesome if I ever upgraded speakers.

The only reason why I didn’t give her five stars is because every once in a while it does cut out. But it’s normally back home within three seconds.

I use this device with an Astro Mixamp Pro TR as I much prefer the wired Dolby Digital processing instead of the new Dolby Atmos they are trying to make everyone use. Hopefully Atmos gets better in the future but for now this device makes my experience better.

If you are in need of a product that supports taking an arc signal from a newer TV and converting it to Optical for an older stereo use this off amazon... I connected my projector that has no built in speaker and a Roku with it to my Bose system. We are now enjoying movies on our back yard and in a big screen in our room.
