For some sources, it works great. Had no problem with Hulu, and it even shows a test pattern when nothing is connected so you know it’s powered on. However, I ultimately had to return it because it appears to not support HDCP (the end to end copyright protection scheme required by HDMI). Both iTunes and Disney+ refused to play over it due to a restriction on copyrighted content.

I found that with my device (and a complaint of others online) would not work correctly with decoding the audio. If this happens to you. you need to change the audio setting on you device and turn off Dolby noise reduction or the audio is choppy and unusable. Once I did that, it has worked flawlessly since I bought it.
