I have a VCR/VHS player and needed to connect it to my smart tv, but it did not do anything (it was supposed to convert RCA cables to HDMI).

The Contour recorder provides much more features even it will cost more on a long run.

I never got around to using it and I returned it along with the tv I bought. I may not have even needed it in the first place but I possibly could have. I was going to try connecting the tv to a 2 channel stereo (audio only) receiver.
