This adapter is used to convert an HDMI output (for example, from a computer) into a female VGA plug; when combined with a male to male VGA cable, it will attach to a VGA female socket on an older computer monitor. It does the job.

Just as expected - works great to connect my laptop to a 20" monitor. You just need to be sure your computer has an HDMI port. Most laptop purchased new in the last 3 years or so should have one, or they have a VGA port in which case you don't need this.

I have looked everywhere for one of these. I bought an older monitor not realizing that it was not hdmi compatible and I found this adapter at best buy and it works great to get double screens! Only Issue I have is that it come disconnected sometimes as it is not very tight or secured.

The adapter is a little pricey, but it works like a charm. I tried multiple other adapters and they all resulted in distorted images on my VGA monitor. This was the only one that fully supported the image and the monitor!
