    I have a newer PC laptop with HDMI out and I was able to use this adapter in a meeting to connect to an old projector with just VGA. Just remember that the adapter needs to be powered.

    I purchased this cable adapter because I sometimes need to give a presentation using an older projector which only has a VGA video port and I use a modern laptop computer with an HDMI video output only. It has worked fine every time I use it. Note that you still need a longer VGA patch cable to connect the adapter to the projector. The adapter cable is very short and has a female VGA port designed to work with a patch cable.

    This adapter allowed me to connect my laptop to an older monitor, which allowed me to do so much more. It also provided me a big savings as I did not need to go out and purchase a new monitor. Highly recommend.

    I used this to hook up my laptop to an external monitor. I had two VGA monitors. One used the laptop vga and I used this to hook up the other one through the HDMI port. Works very well. Now I have three monitors (the laptop screen and 2 external monitors). One thing to keep in mind is if you plan on doing more than 2 monitors, make sure your video card can support them. Not all video cards can support more than 2 monitors.
