This is for taking an HDMI output and being able to hook up to a VGA monitor. It is NOT for taking your VGA output from your computer and hooking up to the HDMI input on your TV/monitor. Again, if you're going to a VGA monitor from an HDMI output, this is perfect! If you're going from a VGA output on your computer -- this is NOT the piece of gear you need. I hope that helps.

Consider purchasing when you are pricing. So I recommend this product to connect to not-so ancient monitors
