    The product needs to do one thing - connect a device with HDMI output to a device with VGA input. In my case, I have a user whose new laptop only has HDMI for video output, but their monitor only has VGA and DVI input - no HDMI. This adapter performed exactly as expected and allowed me to connect newer tech to older, avoiding the need to replace a monitor that works fine.
