Customers are satisfied with the comfort, adjustability, lumbar support, breathability, and build quality of the chair. They find it comfortable for long working hours and appreciate the various adjustment options for personalized comfort. The breathable mesh fabric is preferred over leather, and the overall build quality is considered excellent. However, some customers have expressed concerns about the firmness of the seat.

What a deal, was looking for a chair to replace an old task chair that had seen better days and found this. Great combo of classy design with the polished aluminum accents and true ergo for comfort. For the price you’re getting a high quality chair with solid build too. As comfy as an aeron but pretty affordable.

Seems sturdy and well built, although the one screw holding the headrest on seems a weak point, but still together after just a couple weeks. Rolls nicely. The arm rests move too easily side to side. There is no rock-torsion adjustment to make....it either rocks or doesn't. Overall not a great value for the price. But it is comfortable.

For how long many of us sit in office chairs on a given day, I’ve always been surprised how little time people spend researching their options or even testing the item that’s literally supporting them day-in and day-out. Poor ergonomics for a long period can result in health issues ranging from carpal tunnel to chronic back pain, and a little time spent investing in ergonomics pays dividends. Insignia, Best Buy’s in-house brand, now offers this high-back, Executive style ergonomic chair that is quite visually appealing and advertises a full range of adjustability to find that perfect seating position for your workday. While it hits the mark in most regards, a few concerns stop this just short of my full recommendation.
Of important note - when it comes to comfort, chairs are a very subjective item to review. My impressions will likely vary from yours, and as such I highly recommend demoing this chair at your local Best Buy prior to purchase.
- Unboxing and Assembly
At about 50 pounds, the Executive chair is quite weighty for a mesh-backed chair. Most of the weight comes from the chair base and arms, which use far more metal than I expected and feel more durable as a result. Assembly took about 20 minutes using the included tools - the design of the chair minimizes the amount of bolts needed to secure the back and arms to the base, opting to go for very heavily indented mating points with the bolts only having to secure motion in one direction, which is a fantastic design choice that should ensure long-term durability. It took a bit more effort than usual to get the pieces to seat just right and the screws to thread, but once in place they feel much sturdier than on other chairs I’ve used.
Materials quality is mixed but overall good. The mesh is high quality, the chrome looks and feels great, and the finish of the plastics & metal are up to snuff. The armrests and levers to adjust the seat feel a bit less refined for such a premium chair, with the arms especially foregoing depth of padding and having a cheap-looking texture, but are plenty acceptable. The wheels are by far the worst item here - rolling very rough and looking like they came off a $40 task chair. I would recommend budgeting the $20 or so for some aftermarket caster wheels here.
- Adjustability
The Executive chair shines in being fully adjustable. Beyond the usual height and (locking) tilt options, the base of the chair slides several inches forward or back, the lumbar support slides several inches up or down, the arms can be adjusted for height, width, depth, and rotation, and the headrest can slide up or down several inches as well. All adjustments stay put fairly well, though the armrests can rotate much more freely in their friction mounts than I’d like.
As a larger-set individual (6’2”, 38” waist) I have plenty of room to spare in all dimensions. The only area that falls short is the headrest, which at maximum height is about an inch lower than I’d like. Otherwise I haven’t set any of the adjustments to their maximum positions, so it should be easy to find the right ergonomic position for your body.
- Comfort
Once adjusted to an appropriately ergonomic position, the Executive chair becomes a nice place to sit. It’s much easier to keep your feet flat on the floor and your neck straight while working in a proper ergonomic chair, and the difference proper ergonomics made versus another “ergonomic” chair option that this replaced was noticeable after a couple hours. I wouldn’t say it’s comfortable in the sense of being cushioned and soft, but rather, supportive and focused. This is a much better work chair than it is a lounge chair - buy accordingly!
The major issue I have, and perhaps it just needs more time to break in, is that the lumbar support is far too firm. Though the padding feels reasonably soft to the touch, the support presses very hard into my back and it’s difficult to find a comfortable position for an extended period. It feels like it presses into the lower spine more than it should, resulting in discomfort after a short while that borders on painful after a full day of office work. Take great care setting the lumbar support up correctly.
- Build Quality
As mentioned in my Assembly comments, the build quality of this chair is a step up. I was quite thrilled to find the casting for the three major mating points - where the two arms each connect to the base, and the backrest to the base - are very heavily indented to the point that movement within the mating surfaces is effectively limited to one dimension of motion. Three bolts for each arm and four for the backrest ensure tightness and redundancy, and the machining of the bolt holes feels much higher quality than on more affordable chairs.
The overall quality of the chair inspires durability. Nothing in the chair seems like an immediately obvious failure point in the coming years, and the mesh material feels closer to commercial grade weave than consumer. The only failure point I have concern for is, again, the armrests - I feel like they’re going to crack or peel as they seem like painted foam rather than a properly upholstered or cast armrest.
- Bottom Line
Good quality, great design, adjustable in every possible way…there’s a whole lot to like here. But with all these good things going for the Executive chair, the lumbar support is still a contentious point that merits some testing on a display model before purchasing. I have no doubt this chair will last - a chair I felt this way about previously has gone over two years without a hint of issue - and while it might not match commercial-grade offerings all around, it gets far enough along that this elevates a home office to a professional environment, no matter how many beds or dining room tables that office may have in it.
At a $479 MSRP, the Executive chair is a pricey proposition, but one that I feel matches the high end ambition and excellent ergonomics. If you find enough comfort in this chair when checking out a demo model, then it comes recommended!

I like the futuristic look and your butt and back certainly won’t sweat when sitting in it. It’s pretty easy to put together, well made and rolls easily too. The controls feel solid and everything fits together very well with one exception. More on that below.
However, it’s pretty heavy compared to other similar chairs I have owned and the mesh for the seat and back doesn’t give much and can become uncomfortable after sitting in it for a while. Say over an hour. It sits taller than most and doesn’t descend to the floor as close as others I have do. That’s ok for 6 foot me but not for my 5’ 2” wife. Her feet do not touch the floor at its lowest setting.
It comes in a big box as expected, but even a little bigger and heavier than I expected. It might not be a bad idea to have two people to carry in and especially if taking it up steps. Unpacking and assembly was pretty easy. Assembly instructions were easy to follow and they even included spare screws and a couple of tools to assemble the chair. Same for operation instructions.
The chair has the usual office chair functions such as raise and lower the seat and tiltable back. This chair also offers armrests that raise and lower, move forwards and backwards and twist in and out. The seat section can be moved front and back. Build quality in this area feels superb. It also has a lower back lumbar support cushion that can be raised or lowered and well the same with the tilting headrest. Has a rugged shiny chrome 5 leg base. The padding on the armrests is like a soft vinyl rubber surface. It could be softer but it’s about typical for what I’ve seen used nowadays. The headrest is comfortable if you lean the back to maximum tilt for a little nap. The chair is reasonably wide enough to fit most people comfortably.
What I didn’t care for: The lumbar support is too firm in almost any position and uncomfortable in some positions. The tiltable back only has 4 locking positions or a constant spring loaded open setting to hold the back against your back. It has some play in it in all of the locked positions. The top of the gas shock, or somewhere in that area, that sits in the bottom of the seat, has some play in it where it can rock in any direction a little. Not a big deal and not completely uncommon. Not noticeable when the chair is used on carpet.
Comparing it to my AKRacing gaming chair I bought from Best Buy a few years ago. The AK is a little more expensive but not that much more than the Insignia chair. I know I’m going to be comparing apples to oranges or maybe more like apples to pears as in they are not that far apart in some ways. They are both rather expensive premium chairs with very similar features for adjustments. I’m comparing them for anyone that might be trying to decide between the two. In a nutshell, the AK is much more comfortable and you can sit in it longer. Build quality is a little better. The AK has a soft removable strap on lumbar support pillow and headrest. Where the Insignia chair wins is that it’s wider and the mesh fabric lets it breathe as opposed to the AK’s vinyl covered foam that will hold heat. The armrests are about the same on both on all accounts.
My conclusion is that the Insignia office chair is a very well made chair but could use some minor improvements in a few areas. It’s a bit on the expensive side considering that. If the chair isn’t going to be sat in for long periods of time, used for quick tasks instead, then it’s perfect for that. Especially for people that may be wearing a suit or layers of clothing in a warm office environment.

Let me start this by saying that there are kings and queens out there whose thrones aren’t as substantial as this chair. It is heavy, weighing 65 lbs according to the box, and I suggest you have a second person on hand to help assemble it as the seat and seat back are each heavy. It may require two people to get them to line up and fit together as well as to hold pieces in place while screwing sections together.
Assembly took about 20 minutes, with the most difficult part being getting the headrest aligned properly with the screw holes. But the instructions warn you to be careful at this step, and, with a little patience, I got it installed just fine.
I also suggest, that, if the room in which the chair will be used has a somewhat narrow doorway, you assemble it in the room where it will be used. Again, it is substantial in size and weight, and maneuvering it through tight doorways could be difficult. By the same token, you might want to hang onto the assembly instructions should you ever have to disassemble it and reassemble it elsewhere should you need to move it.
But once assembled, it looks good and is quite comfortable. There is the usual adjustment for seat height, but, in addition to this, seat depth, lumbar support, seat back position and stiffness, armrest position, and headrest position are all adjustable. After a few minutes, this chair can be customized to most any preference. I have been sitting in it for about two days now (not continuously, but almost!), and I can see that this chair and I will have a long and glorious life together.

Adjustable Office Chair Maximizes Productivity

Fully adjustable chair is very functional and excellent for a working environment. The height adjustment is perfect for productivity as it keeps its position quite well and you don't have to worry about constantly adjusting it throughout the day. The headrest and chair allows you lean back and rest your neck easily, which is great when for when you need to take a moment and recharge before returning back to work. The armrest move in all kinds of directions which is nice- I do wish you could lock them into one position, however. The chair itself is a bit heavy, but the mesh and aluminum design do give it a modern and stylish look. Assembly is required, and can be a bit tricky initially but is manageable. Luckily Best Buy does offer Geek Squad installation. The chair is at its best when used for office work and isn't the best for gaming or movie watching, however one does get used to it for non-work related usage with time. The biggest hinderance here, is that the chair does not adjust low enough for non-work usage. Nevertheless, Insignia's Executive Ergonomic chair is one of the best for a work environment and should definitely give you support and conform to your ideal position

Excellent Desk Chair Option With Good Value

Insignia has released their premiere desk chair - the High Back Executive Ergonomic Chair w/Adjustable Headrest. In the box includes all the chair parts, tools, hardware, and instructions. The chair comes with a manufacturer's 1-year warranty.
First off, when you open the box with chair parts and styrofoam, don't be intimidated. Once you see the parts lined up on the floor as I have done in one of my pictures, you see it's not difficult to put together. 3 bolts holding each arm, 4 bolts attaching the back to the seat, and one bolt holding the headrest in place. Everything is super easy, but make sure you have a vacuum handy when you unpack it because loose white styrofoam may get a bit out of hand.
PROS:
-----------
* Nice look with polished aluminum accents and mesh material which breathes easily.
* A mostly comfortable chair with a ton of options. Good height on the seat, and arm rests.
* Sturdy with no rattle, squeaks, or "cheap feel".
* MOVEMENT: (1) Hydraulic up/down using right control (2) Seat back has 4 locking positions or "open" where it just rocks front to back freely. See pictures for min/max angles (3) Arm rests move front to back freely, rotate freely, and raise/lower in 6 locking heights (4) Head rest slides (or clicks) up/down and also rotates front to back (see picture for min/max rotating angles) (5) Lumbar support slides in behind the chair into it's own slot, and the black piece has 6-7 clicks up/down to get the right height preference. (6) Full 180-degree swivel on a 5-arm polished base with plastic wheels. (7) The seat itself can slide forwards and backwards into 5 locking positions using a button on each side of the seat pressed at the same time.
* Instructions came in English and Spanish and were easy to read with the illustrations provided. 2 Allen wrenches were also provided, one of which had a Phillips head screwdriver on it so the rear cover could be attached. One of the bolts used to attach the seat to the back was cross-threaded, so luckily, the package came with 1 spare of each bolt. I was able to use a spare and continue putting the chair together.
CONS:
-----------
* The lumbar support was a bit much for me, even with adjusting the black piece up and down to max/min positions. I actually pulled the lumbar support off (it slides off, not bolted) because the chair itself provides enough lumbar support for me, maybe a little too much. If you like lumbar support or need lumbar support, you will get it with this chair.
* There is no adjusting of the seatback spring. Some chairs allow the tension to be adjusted. This one is preset and is what it is. It's a happy medium but I wouldn't mind it being a bit looser.
* The headrest will not stay in a rotating position. It eventually will roll forward until it stops in the upright positions; however it will stay at the clicked-in height. The rotation is not in a lockable or clickable position.
OTHER OBSERVATIONS:
-----------
* The lumbar support can be removed if not needed, and the chair still functions properly and looks fine.
* The headrest can be removed using one of the Allen wrenches provided to remove the bolt attaching it, or you can just not install it.
CONCLUSION:
=====================
Overall, this chair gives you quite a lot of bang for your buck and looks great in any office setting. It has a clean look, is pretty comfortable, and has plenty of options to change in order to get that perfect seat position. For me personally though, I'd like to have a way to still have less lumbar support even though I know that's a good thing. For me, a little less lumbar would just be a bit more comfortable. The build is quite good and parts feel solid and durable. The wheels roll with ease, and the chair in general doesn't "clunk" around. Even though my preference for less lumbar is my biggest complaint, it's something I can still get used to and would still recommend to others. And if not for the extra hardware (bolts), I would not have been able to finish building - so kudos to Insignia for including spare bolts!

Premium Ergo Chair with Amazing Back Support
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This is easily one of the most comfortable ergonomic chairs that I've ever sat in. For the past 5 years I've been using the popular Secret Labs Titan gaming chair at home. At work, I've been using company provided ergonomic chairs. Working in a hybrid environment over the last year or so has really allowed me to feel the difference. I've started to notice how much more "at ease" or "fresh" my body feels after a long shift of sitting on a quality ergonomic mesh chair in comparison to my gaming chair. Admittedly, I mainly purchased my gaming chair due to the aesthetics and trendiness at the time. To cut to the chase - do your back a favor and pick one of these up asap! I've been using this Insignia ergo chair over the past week while working from home and the difference has been tremendous! Never thought I'd feel so passionate about a product bearing Best Buy's house brand but I love this thing.
For starters, I have to commend Insignia for the easy setup and instructions. The chair comes disassembled in a large box (would highly recommend delivery; the box is huge!) and very well padded. All the parts come clearly labeled, instructions are very straight forward with accurate illustrations, tools necessary for assembly are included , and Insignia even includes some spare parts in case you receive duds or happen to lose some. The metal arm rests and chair back even have "L" and "R" conveniently inscribed in the appropriate locations. It took me about 30 minutes to have the chair fully assembled. The construction and materials of the chair are very premium. The wheel base is crafted from heavy duty steel that is surprisingly well finished. I was also impressed by the construction of the frame. Best Buy could have easily just constructed the frame to be entirely made of plastic like I see so many other ergo chair brands do in this price range. Instead we get a couple of beautifully designed slabs of steel that start protruding at the base of the seat and then thoughtfully wrap around the entire rear frame of the chair. This not only reinforces the frame of the chair, but adds a very premium aesthetic. Another impressive touch is the heavy duty steel base for the arms. The arm rests themselves are made of a stiff polyurethane foam pad that provides excellent support for your forearms while still being comfy. I love this approach over cloth or leather. Leather chairs always tend to make me sweat (especially in the summer). Both leather and cloth arm rests also typically end up with tears after a few years of use. In terms of longevity, I have no doubt that the materials used in the construction of this chair will easily last me several years. One thing to keep in mind though, is that Insignia recommends a maximum weight limit of 275 lbs.
The actual mesh seat and mesh chair back with built-in lumbar support are the real stars of the show. I have been using this chair for 8-10 hour workdays at home and I couldn't be more pleased. The mesh construction of the seat and chair back provide firm support while being comfortable at the same time. This is due to the flexible nature of the mesh which allows it to contour to my unique body shape. Some of my favorite features of this chair, and what truly make this a five star product for me, is the amount of customizability. You can easily adjust the lumbar support by just gripping it and moving it up or down to adjust the height (this lumbar support has made a tremendous difference for my back; I can actually feel proper support on my lower back). Each level of adjustment has a tactile click. You can also adjust the seat depth! There are seat depth adjustment buttons on both sides of the chair that you simply press in on both sides. This allows you to move the seat back and forth to get your desired depth. This chair also allows you to perfectly dial in how much of a reclining angle you want on your seat back and locks it in place. The arm rest adjustment was also pleasantly versatile. You can adjust the height and also pivot the arm rests inward or outward depending on how close you want your arms to your body. Lastly, you get the ability to adjust the height of the headrest as well as the angle. The headrest is a pleasant addition for those times that you want to take a short break from work and just kick back for a few minutes.
The reason I think this ergo office chair deserves a five star rating is not only because of the practical impact that this has had on my body already, but because of the premium materials used in the construction of the chair along with the thoughtful customizable design cues. I have looked and sat in other ergonomic office chairs in this price range and this one easily takes the cake for me. If you spend a considerable amount of time sitting at home or in your office and you're serious about your posture and back health, I urge you to try one of these ergo chairs. As someone who has spent the last week sitting on this Insignia chair for 8-10 hours a day, I could not recommend this one enough!

Solid, Firm, and Flexible Ergonomic Mesh Chair

Assembly
Unboxing and assembly took one hour. The chair is heavy, so I recommend having two people for assembly. The instructions were clear but were missing the steps for installing the lumbar support. On examination of the chair, I was able to figure it out. I also had difficulty fitting the arms when the directions recommended installing them. After I assembled the rest of the chair, I turned it upside down, and the insertion of the arms was easier.
The Chair
The chair is solid and heavy. The breathable mesh is firm and comfortable if you're not sitting with exposed skin. The firmness of the mesh became a little uncomfortable on bare legs after a couple of hours. I love the chair's height, the comfortable headrest, and the excellent lumbar support. The positioning of the arms provides a lot of flexibility. It would be nice if I could get them to raise just a little higher, but I like the feel and texture of the arms. The range of tilt angles for the seat is excellent.
Overall this is a quality chair. I'm confident it is going to last a long time. The firmness of the mesh is suitable for support, but it could be a little smoother on the top. Skirt and shorts wearers will find it a little uncomfortable. Along with difficulty in assembly, I'm taking a star off the rating, but I would still recommend it as a good chair.
Features
• Solid quality with heavy metal frame.
• Arms adjust up/down, forward/backward, angle out/in.
• Arms up/down levers.
• Seat adjusts up/down, 19" to 23", with right side lever.
• Back and Seat angle adjusts with left side lever, free-floating or lock into place.
• Durable weave seat and back.
• Full rotational spin.
• Five double-wheeled casters.

Based on the reviews I'd read for this chair, I thought I'd give it a shot and see if it might meet my needs for a high-back, comfortable office chair with headrest, that would work for an all-day comfort chair for work-from-home.
Unfortunately this chair didn't cut it for me, as a 6'3" 200lb guy, principally because the cant of the top half of the chair, even when locked in its most upright position, was too far back for comfortable all-day sitting, aggravating my longstanding back issues.
The seat similarly was not comfortable for my needs, not because of the mesh, but because of its somewhat narrow width, combined with the slight upward curves at the left and right edges. I found the lumbar cushion a bit too hard for my tastes, though it might break in more with long-term use.
While I personally wouldn't recommend this for tall and/or heavier folks, it might work for quite a few people. I'd say this chair is arguably best suited for people below 5'11" and slighter in build. There are lots to like about this chair, given it seems exceedingly well built and probably durable, with a good amount of adjustments, particularly the seat fore-aft range of adjustability.
The arm rests are pretty comfortable and have most of the optimal adjustments for comfort in various kinds of work situations. The chair was well packed in its box for ready assembly and I was able to put this together in about 10 minutes. Instructions were simple and clear to follow, with the parts clearly labeled and easy to use.
The base, seat and seatback are a bit heavy, so they might be hard to lift for some people, so factor that in for needing an assistant when putting it together.

Overall this chair was worth it for the price. My only complaints are that the 4d armrests don’t lock in place and sometimes move from where I want them. The biggest concern is that the back is either unlocked or locked in place. There is no tension setting like the description says it has. Other than that it is as comfortable as the Herman miller my wife got from her job. I am 6’1 and 205 pounds for reference. This chair might not work as well for a smaller person.

This chair is a clone of some more expensive brand-name office chairs. Since insignia was doing drop shipping before it became popular with the youth. They actually do a pretty good job at it. this chair has metal construction and feels pretty sturdy. Feels pretty comfortable. I do have a couple questions about how good the mess really isn’t and how long it will last but at the price I paid for it with my employee discount at more than happy.

Great lumbar support. Good for a 5'11'' height. Headrest is a plus. The stainless steel makes it feel very high end. It is definitely worth the cost. Can adjust height, seat depth, lumbar support, headrest, and arm rests. Can also adjust tilt. Definitely ergonomic and definitely executive.
