    Solid Chair!

After years of using high back leather chairs in my home office I finally realized it was time for something new. Similar to the high end chair in my company office this chair is a fraction of the cost and equally comfortable. This chair is a solid, and heavy, piece of furniture. The chair comes unassembled but putting it together took about 20 minutes. I’m really liking the mesh fabric as opposed to the leather. Once assembled there are a number of things that can be adjusted. Of course the height can be adjusted with the touch of a lever. The recline can be locked into a position or can be unlocked so you can recline and sit up and the back follows. There is a lumbar support that comes in handy when you recline the chair. And lastly there is the headrest that is comfortable. The chair glides smoothly and the base has enough weight that, unlike some chairs, doesn’t feel like you’ll tip over if you move it to fast. Overall this chair can go toe to toe with those that can cost two to three times what this one does.

Seat is too firm, had to buy a cushion. Head rest never stayed put and after 6 months one of the armrest decided it didn't want stay put. Height range is high to higher (I'm 6') so at its lowest my legs barely fit under my desk. In short its stiff and "adjustable" just means it moves...

It is easy to like this Insignia Ergonomic chair. It has a ton of adjustment features and great build quality for the price. It looks great and will give your home or office a very professional look. It comes with polished aluminum on the arms and back frame, an adjustable headrest, seat and arm adjustments along with excellent back support you just don’t find at this price level. It is really hard not to recommend this chair. It was very easy to assemble although it is a heavy chair so some caution is in order unpacking it. And I do admit that cutting up the big box for recycling wasn't much fun. But the effort is well worth it for the value found here. My older chair was a Herman Miller Embody that served me very well for quite a long time. But the price for that Herman Miller chair is almost three times the Insignia ergonomic chair. Judging from the quality I am pretty certain I will also get many years of service with this Insignia chair. But like any chair how it fits will be unique to the individual. I am 5’9” and with the chair set at the lowest seat height my feet are flat on the floor. But my wife who is closer to 5’3” is too short for this chair at the lowest setting and her feet don’t touch the floor. I also wish the headrest would tilt forward as I have to lean back to make more use of it. It also feels a bit hard on the seat and back which is ok and it might loosen up a bit overtime. But I do prefer the stiffer back feel as it makes for better support. But for her being a smaller person it was just too stiff. This is a big chair so I think it is a much better fit for the larger folks among us. That is the one thing I think you could consider when looking at this chair. Other than that I think this is well worth the value you get especially for the long term. When shopping for an office chair many of us will not want to spend the few extra dollars for the better ergonomic chair we might want. When shopping it can be easy to forget how long you really have to sit while we work. I am on the side of your office chair being a long term investment in both your productivity and health. This Best Buy Insignia Ergonomic Chair is a winner and I highly recommend it.

Not very comfortable. The mesh was too firm and the head rest didn’t adjust as much as I had hoped. I bought the Steelcase Gesture instead. It may be $1200, but totally worth the comfort.

The Insignia chair is a quality, heavy duty desk chair that can rival commercial quality chairs. The chair has multiple adjustments for the height of the chair, arm rest height, lumbar and the headrest can tilt or be raised or lowered based on body height. Overall the chair’s mesh is firm and the base of the chair is kind of heavy. The chair is great quality that appears will last a long time. The chair is made for an average size person, which would be expected. There is plenty of adjustment for seat height. However If you are a large person, the seat may not be wide enough to be comfortable. Assembly: The chair comes in a large box about the size of a stove and is very heavy. There is some assembly required but the instructions are detailed and it comes with all tools that are required. It is easier to put together with 2 people and took about 40 minutes to put together. Overall, it is a great chair for the money. I would recommend it to friends as a good quality chair that will last a long time.

    Stops the new-chair-every-2-years cycle,,,

Insignia - High Back Executive Ergonomic Chair with Adjustable Headrest – Black Stop the new-chair-every-2-years cycle with this one…. For those looking at a new office chair, there are the “cushion” chairs, which have foam cushions and padding for seat/back, and there are the “support” chairs that have mesh webbing that gives a little, but is intended to “push back” and support your back and bottom. This chair is a “support” chair. OK I have been going through the cycle of getting a new office chair every couple of years to replace one that the cushions have crushed down to the plywood, or the seat support bearings are starting to wobble, any number of things that make the chair grow more and more uncomfortable over time. I always seemed to settle on the “not the cheapest but not too much” price range, which is OK for a while but weak spots or cushioning issues always seemed to start creeping in. This time I decided to go up the price ladder and consider the chair as more of an investment in daily comfort and overall health. The Best Buy house brand seemed like a good choice, as Best Buy tries to match the best features of the well-known brands and come in at a lower price. There are 2 models of the Insignia chair that I could choose from, and although they are both pretty much the same size and weight capacity, I went with the High Back to get the adjustable lumbar support and more adjustments including the arm rest, head rest, rocking, tilt adjustment, and “seat slide” that allows moving the seat forward/backward for just the right bottom position. I’m glad to have these extra adjustables, as spending about 30 minutes adjusting the lumbar, headrest, and seat position provided the perfect fit – and I have not experienced this perfect fit with the less expensive chairs. Once I got the seat dialed in, it was the “why didn’t I do this a long time ago?” feeling, especially with all the seat-time that has been put in over the past few years. A few words on the construction >> this chair seems built to last. The load-bearing parts are metal, with metal-to-metal fitted connections when assembling. The chair comes in several parts – securely packaged – and all the needed screws and tools are included and VERY CLEARLY LABELED so you can quickly find the right screw for the right part. Putting the chair together took about 30 minutes and I always take my time and (mostly) read the instructions – which are very clear and easy to follow. Having gone through a few chairs over the years to get to this one, I feel pretty confident that I won’t need to buy a replacement for a long time, if ever. Greetings from Central Georgia!

Comfortable, Stylish, and Easy to Set-Up

I've had what I considered to be a pretty expensive gaming chair ($300) to sit at my desk with my computer and Xbox. It was cool for about 6 months before the foam started to compress too much, and I noticed that the lumbar support didn't support as much as it poked me in the back, and the neck support pillow couldn't actually hit where my neck sits when sitting properly. I suffered with this chair throughout the COVID years and boy did those really stink! The thing I learned from all of that, is like your shoes, and your bed, you should never skimp (even if it doesn't seem like skimping at the time), on the chair you will sit in for hours on end! The Insignia High Back Executive Ergonomic Chair, is worth every penny. It was the easiest desk chair I have ever put together, mostly because the arms fit on to a molded slot and stay there while you put in the bolts. The back and headrest were just as easy. At first it was a bit jarring to go from a foam seat to the mesh but it won me over pretty quickly. A quick adjustment of the lumbar support (which actually supports), and setting the arms where I want them, and I was good to go. For a few days that is. I noticed that I was getting a sore spot on my left hip, and it wasn't until I played around with the seat position and moved it forward all the way that I REALLY found out how supportive this chair can be. Now I am absolutely golden. I was surprised that the seating height of the chair was so high in its lowest setting. I'm 5'11" and it is perfect for me at this low setting and allows my feet to be firmly planted on the floor with my legs at a comfortable 90ish degree angle. If I were any shorter, I would not be able to put my feet down without a foot rest. Perhaps they assume that you might have one of those and are making some allowance for that. If you are under 5'11" though, you might want to try this chair before you buy it. I also like the rocking motion of the back and how far back it can recline, but was surprised that the lock for the back couldn't lock you at wherever you found comfortable or at least some set increments. It is either locked straight up or it is allowed to rock back freely. Now the tension on the back is really good, so it's not like you fall back, but again, I was just surprised. All-in-all, I am extremely happy with the chair and look forward to many years of much more comfortable sitting while at my desk. Don't skimp, get a GOOD chair!

Comfy back but noisy wheels, not for bony bottoms

A few years back, I had some extra money and treated myself to one of those fancy big name task chairs with the mesh back. While it was more comfortable than the no-name "gaming" chair I picked up the year before, it did not have a headrest. That's why, when I was able to, I jumped at picking up the Insignia High Back Executive Ergonomic chair. Assembling the chair was simple enough, and all the required tools were included in the box. The only mildly frustrating part was in connecting the headrest, as it definitely required two pairs of hands. Luckily, my daughter had heard all the grunts and sighs and came over to assist. The adjustable arm rests are only slightly cushioned. This was easily corrected with a set of aftermarket cushions that I purchased for my previous chair. The aftermarket cushions actually fit this chair much better than my old chair as they mimic the rectangular shape of the stock cushions on this one. Speaking of the arm rests, they easily adjust heights to five different positions, slide forward and back, and can rotate about 15° pivoting from the back. The seat is a thick mesh stretched over an empty frame. I may have to add some sort of padding because my posterior is narrow and bony, so it wants to poke through instead of being lovingly cradled by the mesh. I have a similar problem with hammocks and camp chairs. The headrest is everything that has been missing from my previous seating experiences. I've adjusted it to the exact position where I can lay my head back and relieve the weight off my neck but still be sitting straight up for proper spine posture, which is important to me because I have a tendency to slouch. Not having to hold up my big heavy head all the time helps my neck pain considerably. My most looked for feature, lacking in my task chair, is the locking reclining back. This chair locks at whatever angle my heart desires. My only complaint is over the wheels and frame. It's all metal, so there's an annoying rattling sound whenever it rolls. Some sort of o-rings to reduce the hollow ringing vibrations would have been nice. I swapped the wheels out for some aftermarket sliders after a day because I always roll over and destroy the various cords that lay around my desk, and even then they rattle a little in the wheel frame when the chair is moved, but not nearly as bad as the wheels. Swapping out the wheels for something less noisy was a necessity, as it just doesn't feel very premium when rolling around, more like a supermarket shopping cart (you know, the one with the one wheel that rattles and spins around of its own free will). Ultimately, I rolled my task chair out into the other room, and have chosen the Insignia High Back Executive Ergonomic Chair as my current daily sitter. And if I can find wherever I stashed my sciatica cushion this may work out pretty good.

I have had the Insignia Executive Ergonomic Chair for a while now and find that it has similar features to chairs that I’ve used from other manufacturers. Many of the other manufacturers’ chairs, however, felt flimsy, with plastic-like construction that experienced part failures over time. While I haven’t had this chair long enough to say that it will be different, in contrast it has a solid construction feel to it. And while the Insignia does indeed use plastic, I have a feeling that this one is going to be longer-lived than the ones I’ve used previously. Putting it together was a breeze. There are only a handful of screws necessary for installation, and they are secured using Allen wrenches provided by Insignia. Everything about putting it together was easy, although the headrest was a bit more challenging. The headrest had two plastic stubs that must be aligned and slotted into two pre-drilled holes. Once done properly, the headrest can be tightened down with the screws provided. It worked beautifully. The arms on the chair can be raised and lowered with ease, just as the seat/back can be quickly moved from a locked position to a rocking one. The whole seat itself can be moved up and down as needed. Using the chair has been a real pleasure, and it is now a mainstay of my home office. I am giving this chair 5 stars.

It amazes me that we have these chairs and how much design goes into them. There are so many incredibly fancy ones and they look so complicated and over cushioned. I needed something to do work at home. My old chair was falling apart I had for so many years and it was killing my back. I found this chair and was brought in by the look it was very simple yet very elegant looking. Once I got it I didn't realize I needed to put so much of it together, while not difficult it took slightly longer than I thought and when I first sat on it I got incredibly worried this was nowhere as comfortable as I thought it would be, I thought this is probably because I am not use to it my old chair was so worn in that it no longer supported me. I thin I was partially correct but after several days of use I feel like the chair has also broken in and is not as rigid as when I first got it. Overall this chair is really fantastic its extremely comfortable and looks amazing. It is a bit bigger than I thought it would be but overall it is great. Definitely recommend it for someone looking for a new office chair.
