Read reviews on various antennas because I wanted to get rid of my cable. I purchased this antenna for about $15 as well as an RCA for over $ 30. The RCA antenna broke off. They both worked the same except you had to use a plug in adaptor with it- unnecessary use of energy. For the same result and quality, I recommend the Insignia. Both scan approximately a 40-mile radius.

HD quality without the ridiculous price of cable! Most of our tv watching is on the basic channels (abc, cbs, nbc, etc) and then sports. This is a phenomenal way to get those channels with HD quality without the monthly expense. May have to move the antenna around a bit to find the best location in your house, but we've now found a spot for it to stay with limited disruption in signal

Pulls in a bunch of channels for free. Works better than the 40-50 dollar digital antennas I've tried. Can't beat the price. Have to re-scan the channels periodically. It allows me to use my TV and get the news, basic channels for free (close to NYC metro). It

Lo VHF reception and why it matters

This is one of the few reasonably priced antennas that Best Buy sells anymore with lo-VHF elements. If you live in an area where there is a TV signal you want that still uses lo-VHF frequency (like 6ABC in Philadelphia) this is a good choice. So many stations swapped their VHF frequencies for higher UHF when the switch to ATSC (digital standard) occurred in 2009. I have no idea why channel 6 here in Philadelphia decided to stick with VHF, but they did, so if you want ABC in this market, you either have to overpay for Hulu+Live, YouTube+Live, or extremely overpay for cable, or find an antenna that picks up VHF (and especially lo-VHF; channel 6 is just below FM, in the 82 to 88 MHz range). The only minus of this product is that I with the VHF elements were just a bit longer. If you don’t mind the appearance, add some aluminum foil flaps to the ends of the fully extended elements, get this near a window, point it toward signal hill, and you might just be able to pull in channel 6 in the Philly suburbs.

Just wanted to get a few local channels in case I want to see what's going on live. I was really impressed at getting over 62 channels.
Easy to connect hides well behind the TV and sits sturdy enough.

This picked up a lot of channels, and they look great in HD. Although there are times the antenna is a little touchy, losing signal when walking by etc and I sometimes have to adjust it or move it around. Overall its been good I recommend. Fyi be careful when putting it together, it can be a little flimsy

Don't be like me and wait too long to get an HD antennae. This model was cheap, easy to install and took me from zero free HD channels to a dozen by just propping it on top of my entertainment console. My first attempt was to hide it behind the actual flatscreen that's mounted on my wall with just enough room to tilt down to a proper viewing angle. Unfortunately, that only gave me half the channels that are available in my area. By putting it on top of the entertainment console I can now get all of them. According to some easy-to-find HD station locators online, if I wire this sucker upwards a few more feet and install it in my attic, I could get even more channels. However, I live In Iowa so getting more channels basically means getting more of the same networks for other Iowa TV markets... no difference except for their local news, really, and seriously, who wants that. In summary, this antennae helped me understand and enjoy what the FCC intended with broadcast television... free reception without any hassle. With streaming boxes and the internet, access to the cable stuff is easy enough. Bye-bye Mediacom.
