    Didn't meet my needs

I was frustrated that I wasn't able to browse the apps until AFTER I purchased the Infocast. Now I know why. I expected useful apps along the lines of what you'd find in the Android market. Most of the apps are ugly and useless. It seems the majority of the apps are for variations of the clock! You can't surf the web (for instance, looking up recipes in the kitchen), you can only stream . Also, the sound is terrible. This may be a great device for some people. The device itself is decent. It's easy to use and very responsive. My one star rating is for the worthless apps. If you're looking for a picture frame (I wasn't) this may work for you and the streaming can be a bonus. However, if you're looking for a device with deep functionality, this just isn't it. I kept it for a day hoping it'd grow on me, but I knew I was going to return it within 20mins after browsing the apps and listening to music.

I bought this Insignia Infocast one week ago mostly for using it like an alarm and to have information like weather quickly, and nicely next to my bed. The idea seems great, but the Infocast doesn't cover any of my needs: the alarm doesn't have any nice feature like using Pandora or some internet radio station to wake up, you just find some sounds; regarding the applications, 99% are really, really ugly and unuseful, I haven't even found a nice and configurable application for checking the weather.. I don't like any of these: accuwheather, yahoo, weatherbug, fox, the weather channel, they're all not configurable at all and I think the designs are terrible. The best applications are the ones where, I guess, Insignia worked in like Pandora, Shoutcast.. On the other hand, it was easy to set up, the screen is nice, it is very nice to be able to use an USB to show your pictures and play your MP3s on the device, but the main features I was looking for aren't there.. I'll return it to Best Buy.

    A Waste of Time

I owned this device for a couple of hours. Step one of any web dev ice is to connect to the internet. While it recognized that there was a wireless modem in the vicinity, it repeatedly rejected the WEP Key data that I entered. I cycled the device on and off several times and went through the sequence over and over, each time that I had entered the WEP Key data accurately. It kept telling me that my internet was down. WRONG. I then called the help nr listed in the Insignia brochure only to get a recording telling me that this was not the number for the help desk and they gave me another 800 number. When I called that, they informed me that they had nothing to do with Insignia products and I would have to deal with Best Buy. I immediately returned the device. My first and last Insignia purchase.
