I used to have a cleaning disk but that's been gone for years. I've been traveling more lately and my cd's were skipping a good bit. I've used the cd cleaner repeatedly and the skipping is much less but not gone altogether. I even bought new cd's but sometimes it skips on them, too. I think the cleaning disk has helped but it may be a cd player as old as mine is just going to have a few skips.
