Just pull the plastic tab to complete the battery connection and go to the "Find My" app to add device as the instructions indicate and it will make a chirp noise once it is connected. A bonus with these tags is that it will show the battery level.

It will only make sounds while I squeeze it in my fingers. In the end, I kept it because this can be considered a feature in that it will also no longer beep if a thief is notified of the device.
