Worked great, easy to use. Needed to get some files off the wife's dead computer, so I could reformat her SSD.

First of all I had my doubts. We were having an issue with a different encloser that wasn't allowing us to get to drive via WD Dashboard software to update the firmware on the drive. Also, it was causing the pc to crash sometimes when searching the drive. Anyway. Got this encloser and we were able to access the drive via the software and did the firmware update. Pure Plug-N-Play. No, more crashing. 31.78°C (89.2°F) on the read and 32.17°C (89.9°F) on the write of a 3GB file. It's idle around 31.11°C (88°F). At 70°F ambient.

I needed to transfer storage from 1 m.2 to another and after getting advice from the Best Buy staff I found the perfect item for the job. This product is efficient, easy to use and even comes with heat protectant. Anyone looking for a cloner worth the money, I recommend this one right here!

It's easy to open and mount your NVMe drive. Deducted one star for the little plastic plug that holds a drive in being super small and fiddly-it popped out and I almost lost it-but it did snap right back in, and does its job of holding board in place. I was able to get 900 MB/sec read and 700+MB/sec write out of it, so I'm happy with its speed. Also, the metal case gets pretty warm so I'm assuming it does a good job of dissipating heat. Also need mention the thoughtful inclusion of a USB-C to USB-A adapter, so you can plug it into a new or an older computer. NIce touch! Solid item at a good price.

This item worked perfect for what I needed. After GeekSquad failed to do what I paid them to, which was back up an old computer, and they tried to charge me a second time to do the same thing they failed to do the first time, I purchased this item and did it myself. Super simple to use and nice and small design so it doesn't take up a lot of room.

This enclosure works great with NVME drives and very fast. Just slot in your drive and youll be on your way to fast data transfers. Be careful not to bend or break the plastic pin that holds the drive down and also use the thermal pad because the drive you use can get very very hot. Fits m.2 drive sizes 2230 to 2280

I had to reduce a star because certain Western Digital uninitialized drives were not recognized by windows or mac computers and needed to use a different enclosure or connect to the computer for initialization before format. Also the instructions could be little clearer for installing the m.2 and the removal of the screw. Once understood, it is easy to use.

The Insignia M.2 NVMe to USB-C SSD Enclosure is very well-made, easy to use, and reliable. Highly recommended. If you already have an M.2 NVMe in your computer, or are thinking to upgrading to one, this is a "must have" item in your toolbox.

Giving this device 5 stars because it did exactly what I needed it to do! I have three nvme m.2 ssd’s in my gaming rig, and I was worried about malware contamination on one of the drives. I literally popped them all out and cleaned each drive one at a time using my known-clean laptop. Worked like a charm. I was even able to put motherboard drivers on the windows drive and pre-install the OS before I even put them into my ASUS motherboard! Not sure how well it operates in a daily-use case, but for what I needed; this device was perfect.

It works really well. Installed a samsung 980 evo pro into it and was able to transfer files to and from it. I like the aluminum construction, but wish they provided a screw and stand-off for securing the ssd (they use a plastic piece). Make sure you use the cable provided with it, or one that's fully wired for full speeds. Cheap USB C cables often are not wired for more than the old USB 2.0 spec and will be slow or not work. I didn't try benchmarking it, but I would expect it to be slower than your system's pcie interface. It's not thunderbolt, so it will work on systems without it.

good enclosure. glad I did not spring for something more expensive. This option is budget friendly and gets the job done well. was running linux off an nvme ssd in this enclosure for a dual boot system for a couple months before making a full swap over and there was no difference between running of this and running off an internal SSD. that said I was only using it with a usb-c to usb-c connection since it is faster than usb-a to usb-c

This little enclosure has been a life saver for my old PCs that needed an SSD upgrade with no slot in the motherboard. Games, and operating system ran flawlessly even with speeds being somewhat reduced with the cable connection and bay. Quite literally doubled my gaming and operating experience anywhere it went. Also, if youre wanting to take your PC with you on the go and have a simple boot with you on any hardware, this is the way to do it.

Works Great! Note, use the cable that comes with it. Only mistake i did was to use my own USB-C cable and try to save the one that came with it. I have so many, but I did know most of the ones i have, are just for powering up devices and they do not do data transfer. So, if you are sure yours can do data transfer then you are fine.

About 6 weeks ago, my main laptop stopped working after about 3 years. Unhappily, I realized I had not been backing up my data as well as I should, so problem. I checked and found that my broken laptop had a NVMe SSD, so I got this. Popped to back off of the broken laptop, took out the SSD and put the SSD in this unit. Connected it to new laptop via USB-C and was able to copy all data to new laptop in about 15 minutes. Geek Squad could have recovered my data, but charge was $100. This unit was $30. It saved the day

I complained to Best Buy but they wanted me to come back to the store which was kinda a hassle. I didn't particularly NEED the adapter, but it might be handy someday. I haven't done any official speed tests, but for my first NVME external on a gen3, it seems pretty good.
