The drive is still good so it is now additional external storage for them. I tested it after adding the SSD to the encloser and it worked very well.

They couldve done better on that , otherwise great product .

I use this device as a way faster usb drive replacement. With it being usb type c it allows me to use it with my Asus Rog flow z13 gaming tablet and then switch it over to my Ipad pro just as easy. I really enjoy the fact that it comes empty and they let me add my own drive.

Now I have a portable linux installation that I use to boot any other PC, when I need to.

I compared to other external SSD all in ones and this one combined with an internal SSD drive is more affordable and can be switched out, allowing more options and backups.

Now the 512 gb makes a very nice high speed usb drive.

It fit my exisitng M.2 drive perfectly and cane with thermal padding that was very nice to apply to the memory itself. Connected to PC with no issue and even worked for a boot drive in my tests. Speeds are fantastic getting well around the 1gb/s range with ease

I like the heat conducting slab though not sure I installed it properly. The enclosure is usually cool in operation and I have not experienced throttling. The one issue I had was the white plastic lock engages in a confusing manner and is easy to lose, but you can assemble without it (maybe it is essential only for certain drive sizes).

Only "issue" is the latch that secures them is a little too close when using the last hole, but with the case closed it doesn't really matter. Definitely buy it again

I should note that the drives can get warm, even while doing read operations. Make sure to use the included thermal pads on the SSD to make sure the heat gets transferred to the aluminum shell. This would be best used for a more "permanent" SSD installation, though if you just need to image or restore parititions, you can do that with the shell off. Just be sure to have a little fan blow air on it.
