Easy to install, use, seems good quality. Very handy.

It has a nice metallic quality to it and it comes with a heat sink. Furthermore, installing and swapping out ssds is easy.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently upgraded my drive using an image file, and decided to turn the spare into an external hard drive, and also to have the Insignia NVMe SSD Enclosure ready for the next drive-drive upgrade instead of file copy. The enclosure worked with my Samsung PM981a pulled from a Windows 11 Lenovo ThinkPad. It's made from thick aluminum acting as the heatsink, and my drive stays within heat limits during use. Included is the toolless enclosure, thermal pad, USB-C to USB-C cable, and USB-C to USB-A adapter. If you've cloned the drives and can't see the external drive, or receive a "Disk offline because it has signature collision with another disk online" error, this may be because the main drive and cloned drive both have the same ID. Open disk management and right click on the offline drive to turn it "online", Windows will assign a new ID to clear the error, and the external should now appear. I'm hoping this will be a long lasting external drive for backup storage, and recommend it as a cost effective upgrade to make an external drive.

Now I have a portable linux installation that I use to boot any other PC, when I need to.

I compared to other external SSD all in ones and this one combined with an internal SSD drive is more affordable and can be switched out, allowing more options and backups.

I should note that the drives can get warm, even while doing read operations. Make sure to use the included thermal pads on the SSD to make sure the heat gets transferred to the aluminum shell. This would be best used for a more "permanent" SSD installation, though if you just need to image or restore parititions, you can do that with the shell off. Just be sure to have a little fan blow air on it.

Only "issue" is the latch that secures them is a little too close when using the last hole, but with the case closed it doesn't really matter. Definitely buy it again
