The price tag is the only thing that really makes this remote worth buying. It is very poorly made in my opinion. It doesn't turn your PS4 on for you it only operates the dvd you are trying to watch. It isn't bluetooth enabled either which really is a big disappointment.

Firstly, it uses a dongle...its NOT Bluetooth. Also, you CANNOT turn the PS4 on with it! Sounds silly, I know. HOWEVER, once you use it a bit, it really is convenient for Netflix or Blu rays. It will totally save your regular controller battery. :)

For the price, I can't complain because I have the PS 3 remote and it was twice the money. I would have preferred a full alpha numeric remote for the browser.

It's great for the price but there are definite down falls. The buttons aren't always the same especially when you use dvd's rather than bluerays. It might just be a setting but for me who never really looks into changing settings it make it really hard. For example with the blueray the actual play button works fine. But when you try to do the dvd's you have the actually press the X button below. It would be easier if it worked right out of the box.

I purchased this media remote so that I would not have to use gaming controller for paying digital/streaming movies and blu-ray. It has all of the essential buttons and is arranged in a nice order. I don't like that it feels somewhat cheaply made and requires the use of a dongle (usb key) that has to be connected to the PS4. Make this device true Bluetooth and I'd give it 4.5 starts. Also improve the build quality and you'd have a perfect 5 product.

I really wish Sony would release their own PS4 remote or at least allow the remote that came out for the PS3 work with the PS4. Since this has not happened yet Insignia was nice enough to get a remote to the marketplace that does work with the PS4. The fundamental flaw with the $20 Insignia remote is that it does NOT work with HuluPlus. Netflix yes, HuluPlus no. We want to navigate and enjoy the system without having to mess with the DualShock controller when we aren't gaming which is the whole point of this product. The design is nice. There is a large "home" button that functions as the Playstation button does on the controller. It's got everything I could want aside for HuluPlus compatibility. Minimal design, nice color scheme and the plastic feels nice when holding this very light weight remote. Maybe an update will cure my gripe or maybe Sony will wisely release an official remote of their own. A USB doggle must be plugged into the system for operation which is kind of a drag since the PS4 box only has 2 USB ports standard. I never use the remote since I must have a controller around to use certain apps on the system. I hope it updates and works soon for HuluPlus cause then and only then will this product be right in my eyes.

Nothing wrong with the remote except it doesn't work with the Hulu Plus app. At least as of the writing of this review. Not necessarily the remotes fault. Its common that some apps aren't make to work well with aftermarket controllers. But it still is what it is. And of course it won't turn up and down your tv but works well as a substitute for most applications on the PS4 while you charge the main controller.

Its functions are very basic when compared to the sony media remote I had for my ps3. One downside for the non-gamers (i.e. my wife) is that you need to use the game controller (normally stored) or the ps4 itself to turn on the console for watching blu-rays or netflix. The upside is its price and looks. I guess I will use it until Sony releases their own media controller.

I got this remote so I wouldn't have to have the ps4 controller always on and it works ok for some apps. Mainly Netflix. But other apps such as Hulu+ are not compatible with the remote. Also doesn't turn on the ps4. But that isn't a big deal breaker. Also wish it was Bluetooth compatible so I wouldn't have to use up a usb slot.

We purchased this item for our PS4 because we had a remote for our PS3 and love it. We could not find an actual Playstation brand one anywhere for the PS4 so went with what we could find. The remote itself is simple. Not a whole lot of buttons. This is also it's downfall. Depending on what function you are doing on the PS4 (i.e. streaming and app like Netflix or Vudu, watching a blu-ray, etc.) it may or may not work. We have found that it does not function at all with most of our blu-ray movies. It doesn't always work when trying to use it with Netflix either. The only positive I would have is that it is small and not bulky. I'm just glad it only cost about $20.

This is a very basic remote for PS4(feel like the PS3 remote was more advanced and not needing a USB plugin spot) This remote does not work on Bluray movies just DVD and PS4 browser.......if I would have known how limited it was I would of saved the $20 and used the controller.

I was used to the PS 3 remote for years and this one is sorely lacking in its functionality. I bought it so I don't have to use my controller to watch movies.

I will not turn on the ps4, it sometimes stalls to operate. It is very hard to see in the dark. Not even a reflective lettering on the shapes. The design is poor. But it works with Netflix...so I kept it.

The Insignia Media Remote is a good alternate if you don't want to use your PS4 game controller to do basic operations like watch movies, Netflix etc... My only complaint is that you can't power on the PS4. You can power off or put the system on standby, but for some reason you can't turn it on. So before you can even start using the Insignia remote you would either have to use your game controller or, physically touch the power button. Overall I really do enjoy using the Insignia remote. Maybe Sony will come up with a patch so the remote can power on the PS4.

This remote doesn't turn the PS4 on or pick a user, so I still have to use the gaming remote for these functions. Works great while in Netflix and Vudu, but doesn't always work with dvds and blurays.

I got this for my birthday. I was thinking it was going to be like the PS3 remote were you hold down the home button and it turns on the system but it doesn't. Other than that it is a great remote.

As my summary shows, it works for Netflix and the Blu-Ray player built into the PS4 but does not work with Hulu. I purchased the remote for Hulu and I figured it would work. I was sadly mistaken.

It's nice to have a remote for watching movies but it would have been nice if it didn't need to take up a usb slot also it doesn't work with some apps like Hulu although it does work with Netflix

I love the controller expect for the fact it doesn't power on the PS4, unless there is an update that comes out to fix this I can't give it anymore then a 3 Star. Other then that it's great.

Like the title says, it works most of the time. Newer blu Rays work better than older versions and DVDs. Sometimes the buttons won't respond to older discs. Worth buying for $20 though.
