While converting a naturally HDMI display signal to VGA may seem like blasphemy to some, some displays and large screen TVs are still out there requiring a VGA connection. I originally purchased an HDMI to VGA converter with one end plugging into my MacBook's HDMI output and the other to the VGA connector but, for some reason, that did not work. I've used the lightning bolt to VGA converter with several different VGA screens now and it's worked every time.

This adapter works well, suited my intended purpose, and was reasonably priced as well as convenient. Since I suspect most people, like myself, give little thought to adapters in general until they stop working, I am happy to report that this one installed in moments, because everything was already in place, as has required zero attention since.

Bought this since it was was few bucks cheaper to see how well it worked. So far, it's worked pretty well. I haven't seen a difference between this and the Apple version. You only save about $5, but that's still $5.

I needed this item to hook up computer to over head projected. It took us a while to find it in the store, but we were successful. It was a simple attachment, 20 at the most and I was making my presentation. There are two of us in the photo club with macs, not we all are able to use the projector for classes. Old projector that does not have hook up for a Mac.
