Our LG 24-inch kitchen TV does not have great sound. It also does not have audio out, only digital S/PDIF (optical) out. So we use this -- the Insignia Optical/Coaxial Digital-to-Analog converter -- to connect our TV to our Bose SoundTouch 10. When we think about it, we actually spend more time watching TV in the kitchen than in our living room so having great sound in the kitchen is a big plus in our lives.

Using this DAC for my personal desktop computer. Surprised how good it does for playback of ripped CDs. The DAC feeds an analog integrated amplifier. I purchased this item as a temporary solution after a DAC Magic Plus I had stopped working. It's a keeper; the sound it puts out is excellent.

did exactly what was needed. just had to switch from coax to optical and sound was passed through to my Sonos. worth the price!

I bought this unit to as and adapter to add a surround sound system to my TV. I prefer the four speaker sound opposed to the new sound bars. The new TVs have the audio plug as optical connection instead of the old RCA plugs so this was an easy solution. It is so nice to be able to have a Best Buy store in the area or I would have had to order online and wait several days to hook my system up.

at my church i had to buy one to connect to multiple big speakers and when i connected it to this they worked just like i wanted

Useful if you need to convert RCA into Digital Optical or the other way around. Say you have an older TV with RCA audio out but you buy a New soundbar that uses Digital Optical this is a great solution to make it work. It is a bit pricey for a part and beware it DOES REQUIRE POWER. This is a quick fix and a much cheaper alternative than buying a new television.

My old system used only rca plugs. To work with my new Hisense, I needed an optical splitter to go to my Bose soundbar and one line to my stereo. This unit did it perfectly

This adapter did what I needed it to do without breaking the bank. That's all I can ask for. I have had no problems yet.

I bought this to funnel digital audio signals to my vintage Technics tuner. I had tried a newer, all digital Denon, but still prefer the warm analog sound. This converter does the job very well. Its only drawback is the harsh noise it makes when activated. I compensate by turning down the amp volume before hitting the "Aux" button. Once past the startup, it works so well you won't know it's there.

I bought this to use as converter for my television that do not have the old RCA jack audio output.I use to have the old television with the RCA jack output with my home theater with only RCA jack audio input. Wow, with this product the kids and I are now enyoying our Rockband on our PS3 to max.We're like playing on the real band with a big crowd hearing the sound coming out of our home theater .Thank you for this product where new technology meet old technology .5 Stars for me.

Works as described. Make sure your audio source is quality if you want to hear quality audio.

If you have an anolog hook up but want your 5.1 speakers to work with newer tv. This will works..Only thing you HAVE to do is set the dolby in the tv sound to PCM I believe and it will work. If you don't then you will get nothing and be very frustrated. Just wish they pointed this out in the instruction.Just turn anything that says DOLBY off.

I have an older Bose system and this little box allows me to connect it to my new Samsung. With my old TV, the Bose system automatically took over the sound system, but with this system I was getting some feedback until I realized that both the Bose and the TV sound system were playing. I took a bit but I figured out how to mute the TV. Now I have great sound, much better than just the TV.
