I bought a Sony 4k TV, but I had my old Bose Cinemate sound system. it just killed me that I couldn't hook up the Bose to it and the new sound bars are pricey, then it occurred to me to ask if there was a converter . . .sure enough there was. Works really well, a nice surprise and saved me a bunch of money. Yea!

Old Sony Bravia tv optical audio out, connected to adapter, connected to an RCA male to 3.5mm audio jack male Insigna, connected to a 3.5mm jack that I had to buy at Staples because Best Buy didnt carry, connecylted to 5.1 logitech z506 pc speaker system (uses 3.5mm jack) works great, solid sound. I know others have had problems or hum feedback. No issues.

This little DAC works fine. I have had it for a while and have had no issues with it. If you want to play your DVD player thru your sound system, and your amp has no digital optical connection; then this will work. You just connect via RCA cables and this DAC. The sound is not high-end audio quality, but that can't be expected at this price point. It does a credible job.

It solved the problem so our new streaming tv could connect to my husband's headset.

If you like watching tv a d not disturbing anyone else you may need this converter. I couldn't get my headphones to work with my new smart tv. I searched and searched. I came a cross a video that said the smart TV's use optical ports and I would need a converter. All is well now. This converter is awesome.

This device worked flawlessly for me when I had an old receiver without digital inputs and I wanted to run my Samsung TV through it. The Samsung TV had no analog audio outputs and this Insignia came to the rescue. I just bought an excellent Hisense TV with an analog audio output so I no longer needed this particular piece of equipment so Best Buy graciously accepted the return.

I wanted to keep using a pair of BOSE speakers with a new TV but the input to them was RCA cables. Just as the box says this converter will allow you to connect analog speakers to receive the optical audio signal used by some newer TVs. I did have to change the output setting on the TV to PCM before it worked but that is not the fault of the converter. I also needed to purchase a cable to transmit the optical signal to this converter.

Brother bought this using my best buy account, not exactly sure what its for, but it seems like its working, he hasn't asked me to return it yet...

I use this to convert the optical from my TV to audio that my studio monitors can accept. Had it for years with no issues. Can highly recommend.

This item converts digital audio output to analog as it should. I am not sure if it is a high-end audio device, but I did not require such a device for television output. There was one issue, but that was with the television. One must be careful in selecting the audio format for each of the applications you intend to use. (This is in reference to televisions that have built-in apps such as YouTube , Amazon video, Netflix, etc.)

Perfect to connect wireless headset to our television for an elderly parent that has hearing issues. Unit works perfectly.

A simple conversion solution in one small product and at a low price

Brought this unit to connect my 65 inch tv optic output to my Yamaha mixer RCA input so that I can play my sound through my PA speakers. This is very much needed if you have an older surround system that uses RCA connections, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU GO INTO SOUND OUTPUT SETTINGS AND SET IT TO PCM, if you dont the Optic to RCA it will not work.

This product works for what I needed it for. I am currently using it to convert a digital audio signal from my TV to my in home speakers, which only takes the RCA audio connections. I am not giving this 5 stars because it feels cheaply constructed. However, I still recommend this product for those looking for a quick solution for converting digital audio to analog.

I bought this converter to improve sound quality from a OLE digital TV into an older stereo system. There were issues with voice lagging vs on screen actors talking. The converter installs quickly. The voice lag issue to a little more adjusting on the TV but the sound quality was better.

Was just trying to find a simple plug up for my tv to my speakers and this was the only thing that i could find, not a big fan of this has to be plug into a outlet to work, but it does its job that's the most important part.
