We only receive distortion from our speakers. We isolated everything else, and know the converter box is the problem. So we tried to call the Insignia help line. The first time, we were hung up on before we even talked to a person. When we called back, the person didn’t speak English, and didn’t understand our problem. We tried to explain and he was clearly reading a script, because now matter how many times we told him we were dealing with an old amplifier and a surround sound system, he kept saying we needed to adjust our sound bar. Then he just disappeared from the line. DIdn’t say anything, just went away. We waited for 3 minutes, and no further response. TERRIBLE customer service. We also tried their internet website, and that was no help either. I recommend avoiding Insignia in the future for their poor customer service, for certain!

I have a GE stereo 1990 it works but it needs work because I am not getting the full valuem my valuem come out low it work for right and left speakers from my steareo can you please put more work in to this ?

This works as it says. However, the cable does not fit snuggly. I had to duct tape it on. I returned it to Best Buy but was told this is the way it is made and others have complained also.

Thinks a great product if it worked. The first one I bought have me a ground noise while connected but the green light indicator was off. So i figured it was not defective and exchanged it. The second have me the same noise but this time the light was on. Tried different method of wiring and nothing. So I had to use my surround sound originally for the living room that was place in my bedroom back to the living room for entertainment purposes. A lot of work but got it done.

We are still ordering additional parts for this hook up that was supposed to be simple. It has been two weeks now and we are still ordering more bits and pieces.

Didnt work as expected. Could be because was trying to use it to test speakers w/o a receiver. Still shopping for a receiver

when it works, it does well, but have had some difficulty getting it to work. Not sure what the issue is, but I'll get it figured out. There may be a better product on the market.

For basic optical to audio it works well. However, my TV can send Dolby and this box won't handle dolby+ signals. :(

The only reason I gave this product a 3 star is because it did not work or was not the right product that I needed. I guess it's operator error.

Works excellent with optical cable!! After two weeks headphones are not working, so I’m not sure if it’s this device or something else, but OLED is great!!!

We could not get this Insignia Optical/Coaxial Digital to Analog Converter to work. We wanted to play our Sony TV sound through our speaker system. We were using an optical connection. It somehow picked up sound from our electrical outlets in the living room & my vacuum caused static in the speakers when no sound was on to go through the speakers. Hmmm... guess that is what happens when you have two retirees in their late 70's trying to do something with no experience!!

It works but the sound level seems lower than the rest of the inputs so while it works, its annoying to have to readjust the sound when I change inputs.

returned the item, can buy same quality with much lower price.

We tried this to convert old system to new tv. Didn’t work and returned it.

The signal fails often and puts out a mass of distortion through my speakers when an light switch is turned on anywhere in my building (built in 2010, no code issues). Also, it does not automatically turn on sometimes. Basically, it often undependable and has a significant audio delay from what is on the TV.

It works to a point. If you are going to use it with component cable to digital, there might be scratching noises.

Wasn’t able to connect to my TV or digital output for my surround sound for one but worked for my other tv.

Needs to be restarted from time to time in order to work. I wished it was powered through tv usb port and shut off when tv is off.

I bought this because the sound levels on my TV were very low. I have DirecTV and tied this into the DirecTV box first but it only worked on one chsnnel.I moved it to the TV directly and it still only worked on one channel all other channels are loud static. Mostly now it just sits, does seem to work on Amazon and Netflix and ones like that. Not sure if problem is with this or DirecTV but tech support on both points me to the other

I purchased this because my tv doesn't have an optical out port. This one was going in the wrong direction as far as conversion. Had to return
