Cause buzzing thru my amplifier the second time. Worked on a third attempt, but has since failed altogether. I was told later by a BestBuy Tech Assistant that optical audio is too unreliable. I suppose it could be that my new LG TV failed at the optical output.

I can hear the sound of I use my Roku but there is only white noise when trying to hear over the air broadcast. Had to return it. I would recommend this if you don't want to watch over the air broadcast.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The first time I plugged the optical cable in the optical port there is a little metal tab it's supposed to hold it in tight which it does not do, you have to take something small and bend it down to hold the optical cable in and it still doesn't stay in tight.

Does not work!

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an experienced Home Theater installer and when I had a friend who wanted to connect his old analog stereo receiver to his new digital television, this was the device I recommended. However, after connecting the optical cable to the input and stereo RCA cables to the output (and selecting Optical on the converter), this failed to work. All I got was a horrible distorted audio sound. If you end up buying this, be prepared to take advantage of Best Buy's return policy.

The analog cables were all I needed, there was a set of analog cables in this item as well so we didn't need the duplicate cables.
