I bought this so my older vizio sound bar would work with my new tv that only had the optical/digital output. it works just fine for regular TV channels but when i stream Netflix, Hulu, or Prime the signal is distorted.

The female optical connection did not clasp the connector when it was inserted. I had to tape it on, which was easier than going 15 miles back to the store. The unit functions perfectly.

I bought this item in preparation for karaoke on Christmas Eve. The sound from the TV never came through using this device. I purchased an open box item but it looked to be in perfect working condition. I'm not sure if I had a defective item or not but it did not work.

This worked well for a couple of months, then would not come on when I turned on the system. If it's off for a few hours, end up having to unplug and plug back in the power to make it come on.

It doesn't work well on my new Samsung Q80T TV. I have to unplugged the other connection in order to make this works. It works intermittent.

Simply could not get this to work with my set up. I later learned that you need to set the audio source output to a certain setting or all you get is chirping from the receiver.

After explains what I was trying to do (use head phones that had the old audiovisual cables on new smart tv) the salesperson told me this would do the trick. However it did not

plugged into my tv, plugged into my receiver and still didn't get the results expected. no sound came thru my receiver. end up having to purchase a whole new receiver.

We bought this to use with our Roku stick. Guy at the store said this was what we needed. Nope! Did not work for what we needed it to do. We will be returning this item.

With research on converters for smart TVs, I thought this unit with an audio optic cable would work correctly. It did not and I returned the merchandise to Best Buy.

Its hit or miss getting this thing to work. The device and the cabling has to be just right. I'm still trying to get it to work. Thinking about returning it and saving myself a headache.

Works only with Tivo box connection, not with directly from TV.

Tried to comment from LG Oled C1 model to Nakamichi receiver. Could not get anything through!

I have used this optical converter to take the optical signal from a new Sony XBR55X900E Bravia TV and out from the converter to a Old Sony Analog Receiver/amp via RCA jacks. The quality of the sound is very good via this method and better than the Analog Headphone Jack. I tried first using the Headphone Mini stereo jack, but in that case the gain from this headphone jack was so low that I had to turn the receiver volume up so high that it was risky if anyone switched the receiver from the TV Video input to perhaps a tuner input and this would potential blow the speakers. So this optical converter is a much better option and with a PCM protocol the quality is much better from the Receiver and speakers. The only drawback is you can only use the TV remote to Mute the sound of both the TV speakers and volume from the Receiver and speakers. You cannot control the volume from the optical TV output with the TV remote. The sound quality to me outweighs the drawback of not being able to control the volume with the TV remote. You can use the Mute of the TV remote to shut the volume off of both the TV speakers and Receiver/speakers. To be clear, even if you turn the TV speakers off and set to Audio System you still cannot control the volume of the TV optical output with the TV's remote. For this setup on the TV I used the following settings with Home/Settings/Sound and the following: Speakers/TV speakers you can use Audio System but then no TV speaker volume. Headphone/Audio out/ Audio out (variable) Digital audio out/PCM Sound adjustments/ClearAudio+/On Advance settings/Common/Advance auto volume/Auto Advance settings/Common/Digital audio out volume/85 Advance settings/Common/Input related/Dolby Dynamic Dynamic Range/Standard If someone has a Receiver/Amp or home theater system with HDMI/ARC or the Optical input these would be better choices than the converter. The converter is good for using older RCA analog systems such as what I have.

The optical connection does not hold the optical cable in place. Thank god for duck tape! The adapter does its job and it works.

I have to unplug it to get it to work correctly when i use it

I tried several different configurations, but this did not work well with my LG TV. Sound was fragmented and very tinny. Removed after several days.

Tried to use this to connect my Sonos Playbase to my TV, but unfortunately it didn't work. I returned it to Best Buy and use another cable to connect to my TV.

The coaxial part did not work on this converter...will be taking back...have not had luck with these insignia cables and parts...
