Add Digital Inputs to Older, Analog-only Systems

I have a perfectly good, 5.1 analog-only system and I wanted to use the higher quality digital multichannel output from the TV. This converter does the job perfectly for the TosLink (optical) TV output. I also tried it with our old HDTV with a digital coax output and it worked with that as well. If we ever upgrade our old TV with an external sound system I wouldn't hesitate to buy another of these converters if necessary.
