||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this so I could use the fiber optic output from my TV so a pair of powered speakers with analogue input only. This way I could have all my media devices connected to my TV via HDMI and output one audio signal to my speakers. This DAC worked great until I changed input on my TV, which caused the audio signal to drop out for a fraction of a second. Causing the DAC to output, at full volume, a loud clipping noise that was physically painful. The noise persisted until i physically turned off the power to the DAC. So, if you are planning on using this and are not worried about the clipping from the audio signal dropping out lets talk about audio quality. The quality is somewhere between the headphone jack on my iPad and the DAC on my motherboard. I was surprised that the audio sounded cleaner and better from the DAC on my motherboard verses the optical out on my motherboard and the Insignia DAC.
