Customers appreciate the Optical/Coaxial Digital-to-Analog Audio Converter for its great sound quality and ease of use. Many find it compatible with their existing setups, especially when HDMI is not an option, and consider it a good value for the price. The only notable drawback mentioned is the absence of a volume control feature.

This was the exact product I needed! I spent a few days trouble shooting how to send audio from my tv to my old receiver. I was in Best Buy four times this weekend. I spoke to several associates and all were very friendly and eager to help. Associate Kostas Soldatos was especially helpful in aiding my troubleshooting process. Very pleased with my experience.

I bought this converter to create a link between my older Panasonic theater sound system and my new LG TV. The Panasonic only had RGA inputs, and the TV only had optical cable as an output. Unfortunately there is currently no cable that can provide this cross over so I purchased this Insignia Converter. Very simple to use and hook up. It was packaged well. No problems so far, and sound quality still seems very good. Only downfall is that it needs its own power source.

This little adaptor will take the Optical out on newer HD TV's and provide those audio buffs another option for amplifying the TV audio through a home stereo system. This Digital to Audio converter adapts the digital signal to RCA analog output. For those of us who have escaped the cable box and are receiving our TV over the airwaves or internet, this is the only option for getting the audio out of the TV as most HD TV's won't offer RCA outputs. This is a great product and it works!

Pro: Without it, we couldn't hook up the new TV to the good old analog radio and its nice speakers.
Con:
- Every once in a while you have to unplug and replug the power because it stopped working (no sound coming through at all).
- Sometimes, when we turn off the bathroom fan (that half-bath shares a wall with the living room), with the TV off, we hear a lot of static through the speakers (with the radio set to receive the sound from the TV).

The Insignia Optical/Coaxial Digital-to-Analog Converter is a great toll for converting modern electronic devices that use an HDMI cable for video and audio to a separate speaker/soundbar system.
It does run off its own power cord, and is best used with a speaker that has multiple channels, because it does make an irritating noise when it is turned on and not receiving audio input from the source.
The sound is clear and shows no decline in quality from the conversion.

Purchased this for my new TV so I could connect the audio to my stereo system. HDMI does not work with my TV, but the optical connection works well. This beats having to buy a sound bar! However, the sound bar would take advantage of the Dolby sound, etc. that my stereo system does not.

Had to buy this when I bought a new TV that has only optical output as my older, but outstanding, home theater system is RCA inputs. I was warned it might take the sound quality down but it did not and the sound is outstanding. One slight glitch. To keep it working one has to unplug the power every three weeks or so to get it to reset. That's a minor thing to me as the price was very good and the sound quality is excellent.

This item we purchased did not come with a optical digital audio cable. After looking online for this same type to Coverter box, all other companies included the optical digital audio cable as part of the package. That cable costs as much as the converter package through BestBuy. The BestBuy customer service person we orignally talked with did not tell us that the cable was not included or probably didn't know that to begin with. The converter works fine once we got everything necessary to get it hooked to our Bose unit and TV.

This product was used to connect a soundbar to my TV where sound bar had an optical connector and tv did not. Sound bar now works. Surround speakers work only for background sounds and not conversations. I am unsure if this is a drawback of the device or because I am not very proficient with audio/visual hookups. It works well enough (for now) for what my original purpose was...to get the soundbar working.

I purchased a Samsung TV at Best Buy and then realized that within the last five years, everything became digital - and exclusively so. Yet I have a vintage 1972 Fisher stereo that sounds great, but only accepts RCA jacks and analog pickups. Presto-change-0.
I am actually older than the Fisher and a bit deaf. But with the converter in play, the TV now sounds like it should with table shaking clarity!

this was needed to make my new 4K video player work with my older stereo, since the speakers on my TV are not that good.
Over all it works well, but occasionally it will make a loud static sound when I first turn it on and until I change the sound settings
also be aware that there is a switch on the side that may need toi be changed depending on what type of connection you're using.

It does what I wanted it to do. Needed to hook up my apple TV to my home theater system using analog input to send music to deck speakers. It works fine and no loss in sound quality. Only issue is if unit goes unused for a few days, I need to unplug from power then plug back in. Once I do this it works fine for a few days then need to cycle power again. Other than that issue, works well.
