The plastic prevents a good contact making the outside antenna worthless. Took the device back, upgraded to Mohu sail. I have had no issues. All of the local stations are presenting.

I had better luck with an in home $5 one from another store. Worst thing! Not worth taking back since I got it on a deal of the day, so I guess I’m just put $20.

Using an indoor paper thin antenna gets better reception than this mounted outdoor at the highest point on the house. So now I’ll add this item to my list of insignia junk box. You would think I’d learn after the other insignia items that didn’t work well. There must not be a testing process during design or assembly
