So the hard drive should be relatively well protected from a small or moderate drop.

It may not be the best, but it is there in the store when you need it. Based upon personal experience, don't use an external HDD without a case to put it in safely.

Could be better but worth the price

It won't hold a sata based 3.5 inch had or ssd. The product description is good enough to inform customers. I wish it was a bit cheaper based on competition on other websites.
