This unit is a bit loud and makes random strange noises when operating but it’s in the kitchen on a first floor so we barely hear it anymore. Easy to clean and add water.

Not what I expected.

It tells you to only fill it with water up to the “fill line” but there is no fill line marked inside the thing. It does make ice very fast, but you can’t leave the ice in the machine cause it will melt. You have to make the ice and then move it to you regular freezer. Once this machine finishes making the ice, it doesn’t stay cold and the ice will then melt.

Good Portable Ice Maker

I looked on Amazon then Best Buy. I initially decided on Best Buy because of a credit I had and I am glad that I did. I bought the Insignia becasue of the reviews I read about and they seemed to be true. I did buy one that did not work, took back to the store and exchanged it and it worked perfectly. It makes ice quickly just like the directions say and I love that I can have small or large ice. It is not too noisy and all we had to do to make ice was to fill with water. It has a feature that tells you when the ice chamber is full. At first I took out the ice as soon as it was made but soon found out that I did like leaving the ice in the chamber until it was full. I would recommend this ice maker.

Its pretty easy to use just fill to line and choose your size ice. There are only two size options, yet not quite a significant difference between small and large. Makes a good amount of ice, and is efficient and timely. Would definitely recommend!

Easy and efficient ice

I wanted an ice maker for my apartment and maybe take on camping trips. It's almost perfect. Once it gets going, it produces 9 bullet sized cubes (think Civil War bullet) in a timely manner. If I turn this on in the morning, I'll have ice all day long and would just have to add water if I'm going through it. The ice is soft enough for ice chewers, but not so soft that it melts quickly. It's not a big power draw, so leaving it on all the time is not a big deal. The bin is not insulated, but if it does start to melt, the water drips into the reservoir to be made into ice again. Cleaning it is quite easy with a quick wipe down and rinse. I liked it so much that I bought one for our office. Few small knocks on it. The scoop for it is nice to have, but it barely fits in the bin which makes getting ice out not as easy as it could be. The lid to the bin opens up which means when you're using it, you can't tuck it under something. Only an issue if you're trying to save counter space. Lastly, it would be nice if the bin was insulated, but it's not a big thing since the ice get recycled through melting. I gave it 4 stars, but it's probably more like 4.5.
