    Surprisingly Fantastic Quality Overall

For an in-house brand, the NS-PSD5321 delivers excellent sound quality. I purchased this today and was taken aback by its capability in delivering a wide range of sounds with excellent depth in bass and on pitch mediums and highs. The subwoofer rumbles when necessary, not overdoing the bass of every single bass-producing frequency in both music and gaming. Although the satellite speakers could be more aesthetically pleasing, they deliver outstanding sound for both music and gaming, not sounding hollow at all and providing a truly 3D experience. The product control module is great and easily accessible for my small desk. Physically separate from the speakers, it it easy to control the volume with its large dial on the top and is a true pleaser with its bass regulator as well as AUX and headphone ports. Did I forget to mention that a plugged in MP3 player at the AUX port comes through the speakers without fuzziness and holds true to the song's file quality? Overall, this set is excellent for use in a bedroom or office. It can deliver loudly without compromising sound quality. It is pleasing to experience the highs and midd from the satellite speakers going in sync with the powerful bass-punching subwoofer, which, once again, does NOT overdo bass (unlike the Logitech sets in this same price range, I have learned this also today by first hand experience). Do not let its in-house origin fool you; the NS-PSD5321 is an excellent product for gaming, music, and casual use! Definitely a Netflix-And-Chill worthy set that will make your tech-experiences doubly enjoyable.

Fantastic Sound for the $$! Multiple Applications!

Wow! I didn't expect such amazing sound from these "lower end" (price-wise) Insignia speakers. I have 2 sets of them: 1 for my HP Laptop and 1 for my Insignia 32 inch Smart TV; these Insignia Speakers work excellent for both applications! I use them with the TV "behind and around" me - meaning, I use long 20 foot earphone jack extension "male to female" adaptor cable and run it from the TV's headphone out jack (around the back edge of the room) to the Insignia male cable, then plug the Insignia's male connector into it. Then, I placed the sub-woofer behind my main TV room couch on the floor for a nice bottom end bass from behind, and then mount the satellite speakers to my left and right using little stands about 1 foot away from the sides of the couch - this makes the sound experience very "theater-like" (of course, if you want sound coming from in front of you, you'd need to split the main female out from the TV into 2 adaptor cables and get another speaker to send sound "at you" from the front - for true surround sound). Once that's all hooked up, I placed the little round controller at my right hand on my drink table and - whalla - killer almost "surround sound-like" audio for movies and shows! Granted, the Insignia's are not as loud as a full blown 90-100 watt receiver type setup, but for me, the volume these little speakers achieve is excellent. Note: I have a set of higher end Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 ($125) speakers on my main desktop PC and these lower priced speaker are almost as good and as loud! These do not disappoint. Happy listening from Livonia MI!

    Powerful Little System

This powerful little system sounds great for my laptop and desktop. Although, the subwoofer is small, it still takes up a little space. I love the blue light on the, On and Off knob, because, it reminds me to turn it, off and it's really pretty in the dark. The speakers are very lite and cheap, because, they fall over and off the table, so easily. Any type of movement, knocks them all around. As a matter of fact, the whole system is lite and cheap, but, what do you expect from a cheaply priced system? The good thing is, the speakers are attached to a long chord and won't hit the floor. The, "Boom and Base" in this guy, is Awesome! It sounds good and hits hard. It's not, like, an expensive system, so don't think it's going to give you a top notch quality sound, but, it's way better than the sound system that comes inside your laptop or desktop. The bad thing is, when I had a power outage in my house, I forgot to unplug the system and once the power came back on, the power surge killed my system and it no longer, worked. I love it so much, that I bought another one, with the, 1 or 2 year protection plan, through, Best Buy. I use my system on my laptop, on the kitchen table, as I cook and clean. I use my other one, on my desktop, when, I'm watching videos, cleaning, searching the web and editing, YouTube, videos. Gamers will love this system!

The Insignia brand is often looked upon as just being a cheap, "store generic" brand and overlooked as being of lesser quality. Let me tell you - these speakers sound anything but cheap! If you are going to be happy with the speakers that came with your desktop or if you are still using a monitor with built-in speakers and they work for you - then ok. But if you are like me and you like your gaming and videos on your desk or laptop station to have some power - these Insignia™ - Powered Computer Speakers with Subwoofer (3-Piece) - will work great for you. I spread the Left and Right Speaker modules as far as I could get them on my wide drafting desk, and then placed the Subwoofer on the floor under the rear-middle area of my desk. I have an open-backed desk in a smaller bedroom that I use for my office, and the room is square in shape, so that works great for the Subwoofer and it really brings out the "boom!" in the audio. It took less than 3 minutes to set them up, and the control module makes controlling the volume, base, and MP3 / Headphone features easy to use. There is a lot of volume play on the round and lit Volume Control dial... I had it up last night at probably 10% and it was already about to wake up the house! I would recommend this inexpensive but powerful speaker system to anyone who wants great sound for under $40.00. For the price and for the sound from powered PC/Desktop speakers, you probably could not do better!

These speakers work well for general work, listening to YouTube, Hulu, Netfflix, and various games all sound just fine through the speakers. They are not too big and fit well on the desk next to the monitor. I also like the wheel interface that comes with it so you can adjust the volume and bass directly. I tend not to use it much however as I also have a speaker volume wheel on my K70 keyboard and it is closer to me so it makes it easier to use. The subwoofer works fine as well and give you extra base that you wouldn't with just the satellite speakers. For music, they don't do as well. While it is okay, you'll notice the flaws in the speakers more with music. While it's not bad, and with the cost of the unit you shouldn't expect the sound that you would get from something costing 400+. I tend to switch to headphones if I want to listen to any music. Otherwise if you are looking for a set of 2.1 speakers that do not cost too much, these will do the job for you.

Pros: low price, great sound, looks modern and minimal, connects easily, the wired remote is neat, loud enough for a large space (I have an open floor plan with a kitchen, dining room, and living room together). Cons: The 2 speakers and the wired remote are very lightweight and feel somewhat cheap. The plastic is a little too fake silver color (you can see how the color compares to my turntable, which is also plastic, but is a better color of silver). Also there are a lot of cords, but fortunately I was able to hide them behind the cabinet it's sitting on. Summary: These speakers are really great. I've had them for a few weeks and I like them a lot. The pros definitely outweigh the cons. We have them hooked up to our Audio Technica turntable. I'm very happy with these, and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for good sound at a low price.

I bought this computer speaker set (with small subwoofer) in October 2016. The sound was pretty decent, and I really liked the volume knob with headphone jack that could mounted anywhere. In February 2017, the right full range speaker and the headphone jack suddenly stopped working. I wiggled the wire on the rear of the right speaker, and it would cut in and out. The speaker would only work if I held the speaker wire a certain way. The headphone jack failure is likely due to the speaker wire issue. Here is my 2 cents - . I have been in manufacturing for over 20 years. This is a manufactured product, and I understand that not every single product made is absolutely guaranteed to work. Usually when something does not work when it is used well within the parameters of it's intended use, it means that the product was poorly made. On average....15-20% of electronics (or electrical related products) fail within a few years. These speakers failed within 5 months, and it is likely related to a bad solder joint....which is really pretty sad....hence the 1 star rating. You may buy this product and be in the 15-20% of consumers (like me), or you may not be. Roll the dice.

This unit is simply amazing for the price. I wanted to upgrade mine after visiting my brother, who owns the more expensive Logitech Z323. It turns out that this Insignia system will not disappoint, *even* after trying out the Z323. Pros: -Easy to set up (comes with a very short, straightforward set-up guide) -Controller with blue LED is very convenient, and very stylish -Bass volume is on the controller (somehow, this is a rarity for speaker systems like this one) -Aux and headphone ports on the controller -Heavy, solid construction Cons: -Although I got to appreciate it, I was not a fan of the silver finish at first--to me this made the speakers look more cheaply made than they actually are -Without any bass, the speakers sound high-pitched and "empty", but this is only a minor problem because it is easy to put only a minimum of bass through the controller without having to be scared of disturbing the neighbors. If you want a system that will sound good even when the subwoofer is off, you'll need to look into a higher price range (e.g.: Logitech Z323 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-z323-speaker-system-black/1200842.p) Other thoughts: I had this delivered, and shipping was surprisingly fast. I would recommend this anytime, I was pleasantly surprised.

This is a decent system and met most of my needs when I bought it. It did have one side go out 6 months in and had to replace. I was fairly happy with it up to that point though. Pros: Priced @ $39.99 it's one of the better sounding systems with Sub ; Controller is easy to use. ; Sounds good ; I didn't get to use it much but I really liked the feature of aux jack on controller to plug in something else to use the speakers. It would override the computer sound. I plugged in my phone for music sometimes when I was charging. Great little feature if you can find a use for it. Cons: Wires could be a better length. The desktop speaker cord is a lot shorter than I would have expected considering it plugs into the sub. This caused me some issues in placement and had to rearrange a lot until I could find what worked. Sadly what worked was not best for sound and convenience for me. Since I had to return it for the one side dropping out I decided to try a different system. I would recommend giving it a try, it's not perfect by any means, but it is a nice system for the price if you can overlook the small issues. I am assuming I had a defective one and that it is not the norm, unless others say similar issues you should not worry about it.

I'm def an audiophile and super nit picky with sound quality. Needed to replace a 10 year old pair of Phillips desktop speakers that I loved. Unfortunately one of them went out on me recently. Literally tried out maybe 4 or 5 other pairs (including another Phillips pair with more wattage than these and Logitech). All just didn't cut it. Were either too tinny, bass heavy but in an overwhelming artificial way, imbalanced with the highs and lows, 'hummed' too much etc..Some of those pairs were in/around or even more money than these! So far, these have most balanced, crisp and richest sound. Perfect blend of lows, mids, highs and bass! Depending on the song, can either sound symphonic or like you're in a nightclub with a high end sound system! But not overwhelming and screechy like the other pairs I tried out. A sub-woofer def. wasn't a necessity for me (like it is for many) as it saves space. But this one gives it the necessary juice you need. Very sleek looking and user friendly. Not too cumbersome or overly powerful. Just right. What's clutch is the blue power and bass control dial! Looks super cool and is gives you basically full control/ DJ style on how your songs sound. Again, I've seen pricier speakers that didn't have these what should be basic features. Seems like a keeper!

I read a majority of the reviews before purchasing this product. I thought I was making a good purchase. Everyone said how good it was with sound, but this has no bass to me. Not at the level I was expecting from everyone's reviews. My other Insignia speakers had more bass than this but it was an older speaker system (that I originally bought from Best Buy), the wire coming from the speakers to connect to laptop was somehow damaged (by pulling the cord out of laptop too many times) and the speakers would go in and out, it was at a point, no matter how I turned the cord, I just couldn't get the speakers to stay on). I loved those speakers. I thought purchasing another set of Insignia speakers wouldn't have disappointed me. Don't get me wrong, they work (as far as volume getting loud) but as for the bass option to turn it up or low, it doesn't make a big difference, especially when wearing headphones, (there is no difference at all). I did good with price and free shipping but these set of speakers did not meet up to my expectations. I would still recommend it, but to children, who don't need extra bass, because wearing headphones using the volume control (middle connector) doesn't make a difference which is disappointing.

My old set blew a speaker and then another. a day later I really didn't want to buy these but I needed speakers pronto! In stock BB had these and some 2.0 speakers. I expected to bring these back within a few days and then just order what I wanted. Well, pleasantly surprised with these speakers! No, they aren't incredible but they sound good at low, medium or high volumes. they're not crystal clear however for jamming out while cleaning or gaming for hours on end, they sound pretty darned good! I hear footsteps, the cat screaching in the distance, the wolves readying to attack me and roach.... (witcher 3, yeah...lol) The manufacturer I was going to purchase from also makes these, I was going to spend $10 more bucks and get the 3 speaker 'towers' and bigger sub. I am glad I didn't as these can get LOUD!!! I like the control pod!! I'd buy them again if they were black instead of silver... I glued a chunk of steel to the base of the speakers so they weren't so tippy. Only gripe would be the base...could be larger and/or weigh more.

I like a good deal, but I also want a quality product. I got both with these speakers. I originally bought a set for my computer. I was amazed at how good the sound was. The tweeters give good high range and the woofer added depth to create a very pleasing listening experience. They have more than enough volume too. I have since bought 4 more sets, one for my bedroom which runs from my smart phone (music and relaxing sounds effects to sleep by), and the rest for family members. The only small negative I could find was that power of the headphone output jack located on the volume control is a bit weak for my big headphones, but the devices I hook the speakers to also have a headphone jack so I wouldn't use the volume control headphone jack anyway. It does work, just can't drive a large set of headphones. A small set of headphones or earbuds probably work better. If you're going to hook your phone up to these make sure you get a 3.5 mm extension cord with a petite plug on the male side, if you use a case to protect your phone like I do then a heavy set plug will prevent a good connection. When I went by the store to get the last set I couldn't find them, obviously a popular item, but the girl working there went out of her way to check the inventory and locate a set hidden away on a top shelf.

I needed an affordable set of speakers for my desktop PC, for gaming, watching videos, listening to music, etc. These speakers sound great, look good, and are quite functional. The components are lightweight, but don't feel cheap. My favorite feature is the control pod, which sits nicely on my desktop behind my keyboard. The control pod has a large volume knob (the entire top of the pod), a power switch (and cool blue power light/ring), a separate volume knob which controls the sub woofer volume (allowing you to get just the right amount of bottom-end), a handy headphone jack, and an auxillary input jack (I have not used this yet). The ONLY problem I have found with this speaker set is that, out of the box, the volume knob was a little scratchy. Quickly twisting the knob back and forth several times remedied the problem. I haven't heard any scratchiness since. I would have given this product a 4.5 star rating, but, since that wasn't possible, I rounded it up to 5.

I used to own an insignia surround sound system and hated the sound from it so much that I swore that I would never buy another set of insignia branded speakers. I was on the lookout for some fairly cheap speakers with an included sub that I could use with my computer when I had it connected to a projector in my home. While at the Best Buy store, I tested all of the display models that were under $50 and these definitely had the best sound. The bass may not be very impressive, but that is what you would expect in this price range. The sound comes through very clear whether you are listening to music or voice. I used to play in 3 bands and am fairly picky when it comes to the quality of my speakers and although I knew I would be getting a little less quality in this price range, I was still pleased with this set of speakers.

This was to replace an older speaker w/ subwoofer system on my iMac. The $29.99 sale price was pretty attractive but I suppose you get what you pay for. The sound quality was just not up to par for my personal liking. Bass was lacking and it had slight tinny sound quality. I see a lot of positive reviews, maybe I just had a defective system. I did decide to return it. Few pros - It does have a small disc like controller to adjust volume and bass. It also has a convenient headphone 3.5mm jack, also another AUX jack to plug in an iPhone/iPod if you wish which my older speakers lack. The set up was very easy. The system may be perfectly fine for those who want a very inexpensive speaker system for your computer, laptop or maybe even your tablet / phone. Like I said, with the subwoofer don't expect that deep bass 'boom, boom" powerful sound. I would only recommend it for the price and for those who just want basic sound with some bass.

I got these open box at the local BestBuy out here on Oahu. They were only about $20, but I've only got a couple months left on the island, so I just needed SOMETHING to make noise, so I decided I'd try them out. Value: 10/10 You can't beat a $20 2.1 setup! Experience: 6/10 (but for the money I spent, 9.5/10) I honestly thought these were going to be junk, but they actually sound fairly decent, and half way up is plenty loud to more than overcome my window AC unit in the little room I rent out. Recommendation: ?/? It depends on your needs. Budget friendly and NOT an audiophile, I would HIGHLY recommend. If you want something loud, these won't really do, but they are plenty for movies or music in a small room. and they don't look too bad either! Extremely pleasantly surprised. 4/5 because, well, I've DEFINITELY heard better, but the value for these is just out of this world!

I liked this setup because it allowed connection to auxiliary devices as well as to say, a computer. I used this for my job in order to listen from multiple sources. The bass sounded great. One day, I came in and it wouldn't turn on. I have never maxed out the sound as I'm in an office environment. Since everything runs through the same power cord, the subwoofer and controls became useless. They would not turn on. The left and right speakers connected by the standard speaker connector, so they did work. But without the rest of the setup, what's the point? Unfortunately I was not able to return under warranty. While they were fairly cheap, it was a disappointment when all was said and done. A friend has the same setup, and had the same problem happen to his.

Might sounds horrible at first like all speakers! Time makes them break in! I just bought these today, Play some bassy stuff to break them, lots of low tones, low volume for 5 to 10 mins after, then full bass, and really high as you can take it or 3/4 high and let it boom for a while, you will notice the bass working better! It takes about 90 hours for them to break in. Go out let your music play, bass on full and loud. It will break in, the spider below the cone must crack to allow it move more freely! Keep your iTunes or your Media Player on loop! I only played about an hour of music notice the difference sounds good and bassy! It is cheaper than Logitech and better for your value, this is as good as one of their 100 dollar speakers!

Normally i wear nothing but a headset but my fiance enjoys listening to youtube playlists and we needed a new set of speakers, i happened to get this with a 25 dollar reward certificate which made it an even better deal, the remote has a perfect sized lead on it which allows for placement on top of 2nd tier of desk between the two monitors, there is an aux input and a headset input eliminating the need to ever go under the desk for plugging a player or headsets in again, as well as a very smooth top (led lit) dial for volume and a perfectly placed bass dial which you can actually adjust at the same time as turning the volume up and down making it a one step process to get the perfect balance of sound and bass, rather than turning one up then trying to adjust the other to match. Over all very satisfied with the purchase, and impressed with my first experience with an insignia product.
