Okay so the reason I wanted these headphones was originally for my daughter to use with the iPad.
It clearly states under the description:
"Compatible with any audio components (TVs, CD/DVD players, MP3 players, mobile devices)."
I took that as tablets also... Only problem is that unless your planning on leaving your phone, tablet, mp3 or whatever on a table hooked up to the base you are SOL. So in my case that wasn't going to work, we're not going to connect wires to the iPad to then have "wireless" headphones. I decided to give these to my parents to try out. My father is pretty hard of hearing and always blasting my mother out from the other room with his tv volume. Problem solved. The headphones were easy to hookup. He seems to be using them without any issues. Not sure about how long the battery life actually is since he "doesn't want to take the chance" and puts them right back on the base unit when he's done using them. The sound wasn't the best IMO, but to my 70yr old father it was great. No more loud tv disrupting grandma, everyone's happy. I would say these are nice for the older generation. But for us Gen Xers and especially millennials, these headphones just wont hit the mark.

I’ve seen other reviews but my experience is excellent. I agree that the volume controls are a bit odd but not much different than a cell phone’s. The range is great and the sound quality is terrific. I am enjoying the unit!

The volume adjustment needs more steps between way too soft and way too loud. Battery last longer than any movie that I have used them. Sound quality is better than expected at this pricepoint.

I set it up for my brother and left them. It was easy to set up and sounded great. I think they're a little expensive so I took off a star.

The 1st time I bought this was march 3rd 2019. It was Very easy to install. It Works with older and newer tv's, ( digital optical audio connection) The sound quality is excellent. No popping or crackling sounds like other brands. They can get Loud if you want them to.. I found the sound button is a little hard to locate and adjust if you dont take the headsets off. A quirk?.. if your tv pauses too long more than 15 min the ear phones will need to be put back on the charger to resync but it takes less than 30 sec to resync them. I'm not sure if there is another way to do it. The original instructions were thrown out with the box on accident.. There is a charging light and another light on the base that indicates the ear phones are synced. The light indicators change between blue, white, red & green. There is also a light on the earphones that also changes color based on what mode they are in. (Charging, syncing, low battery, etc.) unfortunately they were dropped or my cat got ahold of them or both recently and the right ear phone connection wasnt working with out playing with it. I wanted them right away and didnt want to wait for them to be shipped and they weren't available at the store so i bought a different name brand. it cost ALOT more money, it had a few more features, but I couldnt use the digital optical and the sound quality sucked so I returned the sony and I bought this one again. I love it!

These headphones are light, fairly comfortable over-the-ear and simple to set up. The range easily allowed me to walk around my two story house without interruption. They are decent for hooking up to a non-wireless capable devices and letting you listen quietly on your own. You can connect with TOSLink optical cable (not included) using PCM only, or with RCA jacks and the included 3.5mm adapter to RCA. So, you can essentially have two audio sources that you can switch between with a button on the headphones.
However, there are a few problems I have with this headset. The base station is larger than my cable modem, but it does hold the headphones for charging, the only way to charge them. The images on the box show a good comparison of how big it is. They are for a small use situation that can be achieved with a Bluetooth adapter and a cheaper set of headphones and those headphones could then be used with any other Bluetooth device. These headphones are essentially Bluetooth, but only work with the base station. The sound quality isn’t the worst I have ever heard, but there is an awful metallic echo sound every time the sound goes quiet. You can simulate the sound by tapping on the outside of the headphone. It is one of those sounds that once you hear it, you can’t unhear it and your ears feel like they are ringing the whole time you are listening to something. They seem cheaply made due to the material and weight, but they handled some good twists and bends without breaking.
If I could pair the headphones with my phone and then switch over to my TV connected to the base station, on the opposite side of the room, I might have considered them a little more useful. However, the metallic echo sound is what really throws me off with these and unless you like feeling like you have tinnitus, it's not worth it.

My Samsung TV's Bluetooth has been an utter pain, and apparently it's a common problem. It would pair, hold connection and give me the audio for 1 second, then disconnect and stay that way until I re-paired, only to do the same thing. Did it with multiple Bluetooth headsets from multiple brands.
I needed something that would work without Bluetooth, and this became a perfect solution! It was a simple plug-and-play. No fuss with settings; cords in and it just worked. And the cool part? It works while still letting the TV's audio play as well, meaning I can grab the headphones on the way out to get a drink from the fridge, and I don't have to disrupt my husband from watching. No pausing, no headphones taking the audio from the TV and leaving him in silence. Also gives me a way to know if the kid messes with the TV while I'm doing housework.
Comfort is a little "eh" since, for my head, it fits loose on the ears. Just not small enough. Might add some thickness to the headband to raise it soon. Sound quality's fine. I don't keep the TV volume all that high since it echos everywhere, so the headphones easily beat it.
Volume buttons. This might be my only negative on it. There is a lot going on back there with buttons, and they're all fairly close together; it's easy to mistake which is which at first. Early on I had to take the headphones off to adjust the volume.
Overall, if your Bluetooth is functional, you may be better off getting a Bluetooth headset since it would be more versatile.
If your TV's Bluetooth has utterly failed and it has the right connection port, THIS is a mighty fine solution.

Thanks for the detailed review, Xavion! It’s awesome that the headphones solved your Bluetooth issues and even let you multitask without disrupting others. Great tip about the volume buttons too—super helpful for others considering the same setup!

My old TV headphone - top rated on Amazon - worked reasonably well until the headband broke. I epoxyed it back together but it then broke in another place. I bought this one (open box- very reasonably priced) based on a recommendation from a reliable reviewer -- Wirecutter? It provides excellent sound when using my TV's optical output and good range. It's comfortable to wear. The headband seems sturdy enough and if it lasts longer than my previous one, I'll be happy.

Sound quality, battery life and connectivity are all excellent as indicated. These headphones were the perfect choice for us. They were easy to set up and pair with the TV that we bought them for. The one thing that I would advise is that if they are bought for use by an older person you may need to remind them that when they are not in use they need to be returned to the stand so that they will maintain a good charge. That is a user issue not an issue at all with this item. We are very pleased with this product.
