I think that the Insignia - Stainless Steel Standing Patio Heater is great as a heating option for your outdoors during winter or springtime. The heater comes in a bow and requires some assembly. I haven't had big difficulties doing it. Consider having your own right tools which could include a wrench set to do it faster. The heater is made of metallic materials and seems to be ok to stay outside while raining. I think that I would need to see how long stays as shiny as now but in the meantime, it looks classy on the deck. Once the heater is set, you should install your liquid propane bottle. Same standard model that you can find in gas stations or you have for your barbeque. The model, for safety, is recommending fixing the heater to the ground, in my case being in the deck, I found that the propane bottle weight is stable enough. You can turn it on, by turning on the gas and pressing the electric ignition system (with batteries, included). It can not be easier and no worries about searching for external starters. I am reading that there is a good safety protocol that switches the heater off if it goes without flame or if the heater takes some inclination (anti-tilt). I tested it on a couple of chilly nights in my NJ house and I can recognize that this is a powerful device that keeps us warm. Being so tall and round is delivering heat from up down and all around the heater. Considering the power, the specs are mentioning a BTU output of 48,000 BTUs that when I look for other models seems to be among the top options. In my opinion, this is an inexpensive way of extending the time in your deck or patio. Easy to use and safe., A great purchase.

I got this patio heater mainly for my wife who is always freezing, even when it's 70 degrees outside, but I use it while I'm grilling. I grill all year and it will be perfect for me when it's 20 degrees outside and I'm spending an hour at the grill. First, it comes well packaged. With that said, it comes in many parts and assembly will take a while. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The top reflector comes in three pieces that you have to assemble. Easy enough. However, they come wrapped in a blue protective film. It's great for protecting it from scratches during shipping. I peeled back a small corner and started pulling expecting to get it off in one satisfying sheet. What I got was about a 1" square piece that came off. That wasn't a fluke, the entirety of the three pieces were this way. About 30 minutes of the assembly time were spent just pulling the blue protective film off. It was extremely frustrating. Beyond that, assembly wasn't too bad. Once assembled I started it for the first time. The igniter uses a AA battery (included) and it starts quickly the first time. The instructions stated to keep it on low for five minutes before adjusting the flame to a higher setting. Once that was done, I set it to high. They rate it at 48,000 BTUs. It puts out a lot of heat. I put it about 10 feet from my grill and got warm enough that I had to turn it down. It definitely puts out good heat. My wife loves it. Before we had the little portable propane heater with the disposable bottles that my wife used. She used to have to sit in a chair and lean towards it to feel the heat. Not with this thing! She can stand 10 feet away from it and be quite warm. Overall, it looks great, heats very well and will be used a lot. The only downside to it is removing the blue protective film and it needs a slightly bigger wheels. If it wasn't for fighting the plastic film I would easily give this five stars. Hopefully they will fix that. When I roll it into the garage, the wheels are a little small to get over the seam of the concrete so I have to go in at an angle with one wheel first, then the second while slightly lifting the entire thing.

Unfortunately received a used product or a store model. Packaging was misssing which resulted in damage to the product. Because screws were all removed from packaging and mixed together without label it was difficult to assemble it. Wasn’t expecting this from Best Buy. Product itself seems to be working fine.

Not all that impressed, but it works. Probably would not buy another one.

On more than one occasion, I have been at a restaurant, it was a little chilly outside, and they had me sit outside under an outdoor heater like this. Living in Wisconsin, I really wished that a similar affordable option existed as there are far too many nights when it would be nice to sit outside on the deck or patio, but it is just a bit too cold. Well... Wish no more! This standing patio heater is everything I thought it would be and works great. To begin, the heater is shipped in a box that is about the size of the wide, bottom cylinder for the unit. Needless to say, some assembly was required. The directions included in the box (in both English and Spanish) were very easy to follow with good illustrations and appropriate step-by-step written directions. The unit is stainless steel and is very sturdy; much more so than I thought it would have been for something purchased through a residential/home electronics retailer. The longest part of the assembly was actually removing all the protective film off the stainless steel parts. One minor annoyance is that the unit is top-heavy, so the base needs to be filled with sand or soil (or something heavy). The unit did not include this ballast material, so I had to make a run to my nearest home improvement store to buy a bag of sand. Additionally, the unit does not include a LPG cylinder, so that is an additional expense. I suppose both of those minor annoyances make sense, however. After the unit was assembled, the sand was poured into the base (which was somewhat of a pain because there is a relatively small hole through which to pour the sand, which meant dumping some sand over the top and then pushing the sand down into the base and reaching in to the base to try and push the sand to the sides; it was not exceptionally hard, mind you, just tedious), the propane take was hooked up, and the battery was inserted into the spark igniter, it was time to try it out. The unit lit right away and warmed up almost as quickly. While it is best to sit in proximity to the unit to really feel the heat, I am not disappointed. (I will be curious to see how long a full LPG cylinder lasts as this unit does throw off a lot of heat at the high setting.)

This has been an awesome patio heater! It works great, is easy to light with electronic ignition and hides the propane tank underneath a cover you just simply lift up and slide over it to hide it. If you don't have one of these on your deck and you enjoy sitting outside in your yard on your deck or patio this makes it so you can even enjoy that during the winter too. I'd also say this is a must have if you have a hot tub or pool and want a place to warm up. The heat this thing puts off is amazing and works well. It lights and works even in a light breeze and didn't seem to be affected by it. It has a bottom that can be filled with sand or water and has anchor points so you can stake or screw it so it can't tip over. It also has wheels so one person can move it with ease. Putting it together was straightforward and took about an hour to assemble. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. There were two things about assembly that added a fair amount of time but both have their tradeoffs. The first is, a good number of the nuts and screws were threaded together in the bubble pack so you had to take them apart to assemble. I think the intent was to make it easier but in reality it added more time to assemble it as you had to pull them apart to put it together. The second was the blue protective film which obviously protects the stainless finish during shipping (and did so well as there were no scratches anywhere on mine) but the tradeoff is that it was extremely difficult and time consuming to remove - especially off the rounded corners. Because it was difficult to remove it causes you leave fingerprints all over it. You could try gloves but for me that just made it more difficult than just using some stainless cleaner to wipe off the smudges when done assembling it. Outside of that it was simple and it seems built well. I'd definitely recommend this and it looks/works great. A must have for anyone who loves to lounge or spend time on their deck or patio!
